Tulsa's NCAAP is speaking out after the Muskogee officer-involved fatal shooting. The president, Pleas Thompson says it is proof there is a 'shoot first, ask questions later' culture.
Thompson sat down with Channel 8 to view the raw video that Muskogee police released. He feels the officer could have avoided shooting, since Terrance Walker was seen running away.
Thompson says the shooting only damages the relationship between the community and the police department.
"Police, as well as elected officials, have to be more sensitive that you know there is this mentality out there of shoot first and ask questions later and I think emphasis should be placed on trying to take those people alive," he said.
Thompson says there have always been police officer involved shootings, but that now there is a heightened awareness.
‘shoot first, ask questions later’
Of course there is. Never allow the other guy the opportunity to get off a shot.
Absolutely. Live to another day — and then find them and shoot them in the back on that day.
NAACP supports a culture of “rob/rape/loot/murder first, think later. Lie always.”

As you know I’m not a pro cop kind of guy. But this shooting was justified. The preacher had called 911 and said the kid had a gun. I’m surprised the cop didn’t have his gun drawn when he first approached the kid.
It’s hard to see the gun in the video but the cop saw it. I always wonder why cops shoot so many times. I assume it’s adrenaline and fear. If someone breaks into my home I’ll do the same thing to make sure the thief is down.
Finally, I guarantee that cop was a hell of a lot better shot that the kid would have been. To hit the target from that distance with a pistol and under duress is remarkable.
Or be a faster and better shot.
Bull to the NAACP. This was as clean a shoot as you are bound to see.
It will also probably end the call for police body cameras.
There is heavy resistance from police unions.
