I've been using the same code to center images forever. It stopped centering. Is my beeber stuned or what? The computer is plugged in. Both my socks are the same color. This is series!

I have been noticing for a while suddenly things won’t work correctly or nothing will show when I type a comment or the page will change format and I will have close and reopen my tab For FreeRepublic. I would normally just figure it’s my computer but I have seen posts by others that are obviously missing text at the top of their response.

Not Supported in HTML5Check the headers.
The header is not what defines which version of HTML a web document uses.
It's the DOCTYPE. In the case of this page, it is declared as HTML 4.0 Transitional. (See: HTML Declaration)
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
For a web document to be declared HTML 5, the DOCTYPE needs to be:
<!DOCTYPE html>

Not Supported in HTML5
I use this website for quick html and css info. I'm no expert, but it's quick and simple.
http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_howto.asp
It nicely tells you what is supported where.
IMHO, it's all WAY too overcomplicated. As a software guy with 25 years experience... I see the reasons why, but I digress.
You can add css right in your html pages for quicky html snippets.
Of course, when posting to a site like FR - the site will have it's own css stylesheets. As long as you don't use their names, your css can coexist with that of the site.
FR's headers still reference HTML 4...
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

Not Supported in HTML5I should also add that even though the center tag is deprecated in HTML 4.0 strict and HTML 5, it still works in HTML 5. (Just tested this on my own HTML 5 page)
It's just considered bad practice to mix content and styling.

I thought there was help there, but it looks like it's suggesting the adding of class, and I'm not sure you can do that in the FR context.
HTML is something I've avoided except under duress...

Not criticizing you. It’s kind of typical of tech sites, that the writer is more interested in showing off his/her special knowledge than in communicating with the newbies who, if they knew the exquistie details he or she was talking about, wouldn’t need to be there.
