Jane Fonda said she hoped for an open dialogue with veterans after about 50 former military members and supporters protested the actresss appearance Friday evening at the Weinberg Center for the Arts.
Whenever possible I try to sit down with vets and talk with them, because I understand and it makes me sad, Fonda told a relatively full theater, responding to a submitted question. It hurts me and it will to my grave that I made a huge, huge mistake that made a lot of people think I was against the soldiers.
In 1972 Fonda visited Hanoi, North Vietnam, where she criticized attacks on the dike system along the Red River. A U.S. investigation later revealed the publicity of these bombings as propaganda. Fondas statements and a photograph of her sitting on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft battery outraged many Americans and veterans, leading many to call her Hanoi Jane and a traitor.
Bob Hartman, an Army veteran who served in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968, said he blamed Fonda for breaking off negotiations among the countries and held her responsible for thousands of American lives.

I am convinced that Operation Tailwind was in part an attempt to extricate Fonda from her Treason.
If it could be demonstrated that Americans had killed American defectors, Fonda figured that what she had done wouldn’t seem so bad, and that she might re-cobble her image.
But it all fell apart. It seems that CNN et al had forgotten that Vietnam veterans were still alive, and their “story” quickly collapsed like a water soaked tissue.
Nice try, fonda. Double-down on your Treason, and take it to Hell with you.
It has been alleged that you did and that it resulted in their torture.
Did you?
Not "think", Jane.
We KNOW.
Some criminals genuinely feel remorse. Jane is not one of them. I made a huge, huge mistake that made a lot of people think I was against the soldiers. “A lot of people” might have been mistaken. Maybe they misinterpreted what she did. BS! Fonda was an enthusiastic supporter of the Viet Cong. People think she was against the troops because she was. I have no doubt that this hurts her. It hurts her financially. That is her only concern.
You WERE against our soldiers, you ignorant slut.
Vietnam vet Hubby states it much more eloquently every time he hears her name or sees her face.....I hope you daaaaiiieee. lol
GFY, Jane.
And yet, somehow, some people seem to think that she was not supportive of the troops. We conservatives are clearly just blinded by hate. /sarc>
In spring 1972 I heard Fonda calling us war criminals if we obeyed lawful orders. Listening to shortwave radio in between missions we were madder than h*** when we heard that. She went to Hanoi & so did George McGovern that year, people forget.
“I’m sorry if anyone was offended” has been the bitch’s message to vets ever since. Before that Fonda called the returning POWs “hypocrites and liars” when they told of unspeakable torture by the NVAs.
But if Fonda croaks while Obama is in office, he’ll have her remains laid next to Swimmer Kennedy in Arlington with 24/7 guard to keep away vets with full bladders.
Eat pooh and die a painful and horrible death there Jane Fonda.
Then go to hell where you belong.
“...because I understand and it makes me sad. It hurts me and it will to my grave that I made a huge, huge mistake that made a lot of people think I was against the soldiers.”
This reminds me of the joke about Jane Fonda’s grave.
A veteran shows up at the cemetery and asks to see her grave. “Sure, go ahead”, says the caretaker. “You can’t miss it. Just look for the squatting veterans and the giant pile of ****!”
Typical liberal-leftist nonapology-apology.
If she really wanted to apologize, she would start out by admitting that yes, she was totally against our troops and siding with the enemy. But she continues to say “it was never that”. Yes, Jane, it was always that. And apparently continues to be that.
Want some love, Jane? Go hump a howitzer.
a lot of people think I was against the soldiers
That is only because she was, is and always will be. It just isn’t a fashionable point of view right now.
What you said. Too bad she didn’t/doesn’t have the wit and fortitude to be content with being Hollywood royalty and pursuing her acting career. She surely didn’t need all the dysfunctional relationships with highly controlling and manipulative husbands.
“One of my modest goals in life is to live long enough to read Hanoi Janes obituary.”
You and me both, brother.
FHJ
Oh STFU Jane, such a Commie fraud I can’t stand her lying, disgusting face!!
So her last act will be Pollution of the high seas!!!
