I was a huge fan at first, but stopped the last couple years. It got really bad.

The best episodes were the ones where they poked fun at themselves a little bit.

X-Cops was awesome.

I think its going to be like a limited series like 24. If its limited then they can focused on 12 episodes and get that hatched down

This really is difficult to believe, until one realizes that Duchovny’s “Californication” series has ended, and Gillian Anderson’s lack of chops has landed her in such obscurity that no one even cared that she “came out”. :’) The second movie was like a really, really bad one-off episode.

Here’s some suggestions — Mulder (wasn’t he abducted by aliens, after they spent half of season six burying that entire part of the mythos?) gets reactivated after years spent on the non-duty disability pension, holed up in the NW, taking piles of video footage of sasquatch with wildlife cams; Scully is middle management in some big-time hospital somewhere, having also served overseas during the War on Terror, and is brought back at the same time.

The precipitating event will have to be some kind of great big tease, maybe implying time travel, but including UFOs, mysterious vehicles, and it will turn out that the deaths of the Lone Gunmen were faked, and they’ve been forced into hiding; they’ve continued to research things covertly, and discovered whatever it is that forces the FBI to conclude that it needs its XFiles unit.

Hey, it’ll have to be lame, the whole idea is lame. :’)

Aren’t Mildew and Skummy like one hundred and eleventy billion years old by now? Should be the Geriatric Files.

More evidence of the intellectual bankruptcy of U.S. TV & movie “entertainment” moguls. The fun, original stuff appears to have been ceded to alternative producers from other countries and is not even appearing on U.S. broadcast TV anymore; we’re finishing up the first 3 seasons of “Lillyhammer” right now.

Agreed. The non UFO episodes were great. The one with the guy who flips out at work because his boss and coworkers are big people was my fav. Fringe had to have everything tie together, rather than stand alone episodes. It was a mistake and the show went full retard.

Peter Boyle episode always stood out to me as one of the best acted.

I believe Peter Boyle won a supporting role emmy for his role of Clyde Bruckman. One of my very favorite episodes.

I think the series start downhill came when they moved production from Vancouver to Los Angeles. The entire "look" of the series changed. Up in the Pacific Northwest there is rain, and grey skies and those grey skies really helped to set the mood in most of the episodes. I found it jarring to look at the first episode from the move to Los Angeles, the light was so bright. Someone on some bulletin board, at the time, got very mad at me for pointing this out; but, I believe it really changed the mood or atmosphere of the show, to where it wasn't quite as creepy, and the X-Files should be a little creepy.

Yes, I agree. That episode and the Fluke one still creep me out, 20 years later :-)

The Burt Reynolds episode was a refreshingly weird break from the UFO storyline.

I found that one, one of the few "later" episodes (after Duchovny left) that I enjoyed. Reynolds as "God". When the killer confronts him and asks him what he has to say to him; the reply was great: "I've already said it. Make better choices." The music in the episode was also quite fun.

It would be interesting if they were now the ones trying to keep the secrets from the public!

They gotta find a place in the show for this guy - or maybe investigate HIM. :-)

Does anyone remember the Frankenstein Episode in B&W? I loved it. It even had yes, a better ending than the Frankenstein story and the guy had two faces sewn together.

I looked it up and Peter Boyle did win an Emmy for Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose.

The term “reboot” has officially become overused.

Especially since David Duchovny & Gillian Anderson returning to X-Files would be a REVIVAL, not a “reboot”. A reboot would be new actors playing the roles and a brand new continuity that is independent of the old show.
