City to ban foam takeout, delivery food containers in environmentally friendly push The ban, which will start July 1, covers foam take-out containers, packing peanuts and plastic cups.

New Yorkers’ beloved foam takeout and delivery food containers will soon be products of a bygone era.

Mayor de Blasio — finishing off an initiative begun by his predecessor — will announce a ban on the environmentally unfriendly material Thursday, according to The New York Times.

The ban will start July 1 and cover foam packing peanuts as well as plastic foam cups and takeout containers.

City Hall declined to comment when contacted by the Daily News. But a former official for Mayor Bloomberg gave the administration a big pat on the back.

What do they ship Styrofoam in?

Plastic bags.

Silly, I did not say Styrofoam peanuts, Meals on Wheels use the Styrofoam boxes for their meals. Take out food is put in them to. We take left over meals home in them when we eat out.

We don’t believe in wasting perfectly good food that will make a lunch for 1 of us. On the rare occasions we do Olive Garden, that is a full meal for 2 to share.

Most of the stuff that I order come with those air bag things for stuffing packages now. I pop them and stuff them in the plastic bag recycle bag I haul when full to the grocery store bag drop off.

Not that I support the ban but I hate styrofoam with a passion. All clingy and staticy and takes up the whole trash barrel when I try to get rid of it. I prefer paper and cardboard, and that stuff I can get rid of in the fireplace.

I’m surprised they’re not ordering everyone to EAT Styrofoam peanuts. No salt, no trans-fats - it’s a wonderfood.

I despise packing peanuts-—I wouldn’t mind seeing the last of them..

Someone dumped a bunch of them in our neighborhood some years ago.

They were around for months-—even after clean-up. Nasty little buggers.

They're great packed with your kids lunches because there will be no complaints from others about peanut allergies

I still get packages with packing peanuts.

Upon opening the box and discovering them I stop everything and get a large garbage bag. The box goes into the bag and I continue unpacking. Usually most of the peanuts remain in the bag.

Those things really are a major pain in the neck.

Honey, we’re out of Styrofoam cups.

OK, dear. I’ll pick some up in NJ today.

“We hate the Law Enforcement Community because they are out of control! Our solution is to pass more nanny laws that they must enforce!”

If Deblasio considers all cops to be racists, isn’t he confirming his racist tendencies by further empowering them?

“They’ll have to use more expensive items and raise the price for the consumer”

Resulting in increased sales tax revenue!

I must be fortunate as I have never been outsmarted by packing peanuts.

Maybe I should teach a class......
