Just now heard about this gun. Apparently it's been around a while. Reviews pretty positive. Priced at the upper end of 1911's. I'm very intrigued. Anyone have any experience with it?

Sig is rolling a P220 in 10mm trim pretty soon. STI makes two flavors of 10mm now. The Perfect 10 and the Nitro 10.
The new Coonan’s feed rimmed cases just fine. There were mag issues with the older guns. This has been resolved.
.357 magnum has a significantly bigger punch. There are ballistics charts that show it.
I wouldn’t want to shoot it. The inertia from the slide probably gives it quite a muzzle flip. .357 Revolvers are much more manageable, and my favorite fun gun.
I am a big fan of the 10mm tho I haven’t had one in some time. I do still have some pretty hot Norma 10mm ammo.
I am not a real big fan of Glocks but I think they might be the best choice foe the 10mm. They hold a lot, the grip is not too large and the plastic handle absorbs a lot of recoil not that the 10mm is all that bad.
Love it.
If you are carrying a 1911 refuse to go to the gun fight unless it shoots a 45 caliber round. Mr. John Moses Browning understood this.
Don’t know much about the Coonan in 357, but a 1911 in .45 Super looked pretty interesting. Not much to converting an existing 1911 45 into a 45 Super as far as I could tell.
I tested a Kimber Eclipse and the Glock 20. Both were great platforms for the 10mm. Ultimately, I opted for the Glock because it was half the price and holds twice the number of rounds. The Eclipse is a very nice choice for those who like the 1911 style. It has a unique finish and looks like it means business.
If you haven’t already, check out the Arsenal Firearms AF2011-A1. The 2 in 1 45ACP. Probably feels like a lead brick in your hand, but I’d still love to shoot one if I could.
I have a 21SF and really feel it’s more than adequate, both on my hip at work and on the nightstand but I’ll admit I’ve been intrigued with that conversion kit ever since they were introduced.
It’s well done and as ya state not a “need” .....just wanted one. The “conversion” for the Glock fits either my 21 or 20. Well made and fun.

My brother has one of the originals, inherited from our father. Well made, works well, it’s a handful- big gun. Mags are super expensive.
Which points out an advantage to going with standards. You can get mags and parts (and people who know how to gunsmith it) at a reasonable price.

I converted my 21c to .460 Rowland. I had no other use for it since I carry a Glock 29 10mm anyways. It’s a beast. I posted some velocity/energy data in this thread if you care to check it out. I love the Glock 21 in .45 acp and have gone through about 4 of them. It was hard for me to tamper with perfection. If it was my only handgun, I wouldn’t have done it... but it wasn’t. expansion of a 230 grain JHP at around 1200-1300 fps is pretty incredible. penetration is extreme also. The .45 super conversion is pretty awesome too. It doesn’t require anything more than a new recoil spring and guide rod and you will be making a lot more energy than .45 acp and your Glock 21 will take it like a champ since it was originally designed around the 10mm automatic cartridge which operates at a significantly higher pressure than the .45 super.

A buddy of mine just converted his 1911 to .460 Rowland, haven’t had a chance to play with it yet...we’re supposed to hit the range sometime next week.
The data for that round is pretty impressive; over 900 ft lbs...wow :)
The last security company I worked for in CA forced us all to Glocks about a year bfore I left the job; up until that point I was strictly a 1911 and revolver guy.
Took awhile to get used to the feel/trigger/etc, and it was probably a couple months before I stopped sweeping my thumb at the external safety that wasn’t there anymore, but once acclimated, I became a big fan of the platform for all the same reasons every other Glock owner does.
I haven’t had the opportunity to shoot a 1911 chambered in .460 Rowland. I have heard that the rigid steel frame and the narrower back strap makes felt recoil significantly more pronounced than in in the wider polymer framed Glock. Between the polymer, the wider grip, and the Lonewolf compensator and 24# recoil spring, I could shoot this thing all day. I have been holding off shooting it until I get a decent brass catcher though. I hate losing my brass.
The 460 is no joke.
Love all options available today. Truly a golden age for shooters!
Lol...I’m actually looking forward to the experience, but bear in mind I’m 5’11” and 295 lbs w/very meaty hands, and a hard-core recoil junkie maniac. When another pal of mine picked up a BFR in 45/70, I was the nutball who showed up with 300 rounds to “put it through it’s paces”. I’m stupid like that lmao
