Moving to TX

I am moving from Denver to TX but I don't know which town is better: SA or Austin? I am Catholic, but also middle class white. I want racial diversity, active economy and nightlife, safe town and a way to stimulate my life. I need a place Asthma and Allergy friendly.

Split the difference and go for the best: New Braunfels.

Any town that can boast Leigh Nash as a native daughter can't be all bad. Were I 30 years younger I'd be busy stalking her at this very moment! ;-)

Well, if you have a taste for the Catholic Traditional Latin Mass, both cities have options. San Antonio’s look a little friendlier, including a full traditional operation in New Bruenfels, just northeast of San Antonio.

Brother in law lives in Kerrville about 45 minutes West of San Antonio and I believe they have “Cedar-Fever” allergies every spring...San Antonio area is very humid...and HoT...

Didn’t the accursed Gen. Sheridan say...If he owned Texas and Hell he would live in Hell and rent out Texas ! ( ; )

Corpus Christi Texas

Allergies shouldn't be a problem on the Gulf coast. Plenty of Catholic churches. Lots to do in the area. We lived there two years and have come to the conclusion we should have stayed there.

My sister-in-law lives in Round Rock, she is as liberal as you can get.

Well, you better look into the allergy thing a bit. There is a juniper that grows in Central Texas that the locals call "Mountain Cedar." Allergies caused by this plant are called "cedar fever" and they can make you very sick indeed.

***You might look into Amarillo.***

Or Dalhart, or Lubbock. It’s nice between the blizzards this time of year. Hot and dry the rest of the year.

Oh did I mention windmills? Electric power windmills all over the place all taking advantage of the WIND from the north!

Just stay out of the Dallas city limits.

“If you are a liberal, stay the hell out!”

Worth repeating!

Fredericksburg is a nice town, and it’s not too far from San Antonio. It has the best beer—Pedernales—in the state. Judging from casual visits, Waxahachie and Ennis also seem to be good places to live.

I second that Forth Worth suggestion. Very livable and affordable, with several nice entertainment venues, good restaurants and nightlife. Good place for conservatives who still enjoy getting out.

I don’t care for Austin. I like SA.

But give us more to go on. Are you going to seek a job, retire, live on fixed income, escaping warrants? Why are you going to move without a specific destination in mind?

You may want to look into moving to Stafford, TX. It’s near Austin and is home to the Redneck Country Club.

I’m not sure what the OP’s criteria are. The allergy issue is going to be very serious in both SA and Austin, and anywhere in between. If he really wants some Latino culture, SA is a better choice.

"go for Bandera. Kinda between the two, and in the heart of the beautiful Hill Country."

More like a southern gateway to the Hill Country.
But apparently thriving since I was there last.

You are leaving your allergies in Denver but over time you will develop new ones in your new place.

Stafford is a suburb of Houston not Austin.

Honestly, take a look at Oklahoma City. Oklahoma isn’t Texas but we are a totally red state.

There is a chance that Texas could turn blue once the illegals get a chance to vote. Don’t get me wrong, I like Texas! But the idea that Texas could turn permanently blue gives me nightmares.
