The Chicago Bears made a heck of a statement this offseason. They gave quarterback Jay Cutler a $126 million contract.
The team was telling everyone that even though Cutler was a mediocre quarterback for eight years, the ninth would be different. He would be paid like he was on the same level as the game's best quarterbacks. And now, 14 games later, theyre benching Cutler for Jimmy Clausen.

Husband always out of town and nobody to cut the grass......?
There are the headline numbers for NFL contracts and the real money. The $126 MM is if Cutler stays for the entire contract and hits every incentive bonus. I do not know what part of that is guaranteed. Even that is deceptive because the a lot of guaranteed money is contingent on being on the roster.
not sure if this is legit or not but has lot of detail

The whole league passed on Tebow for a reason. He's not the answer for the Bears. Their woes began by giving up too much for Cutler in the first place. Now they have to start from scratch again. They need to draft for a QB every year until they find one - and defense. That's the only way forward for this franchise.
Trestman is gone next year. Cutler is gone next year after the contract guarantee runs out.
Mama Bear and Pappa Bear are getting a divorce.
At the court hearing, the judge asks Baby Bear:
Do you want to live with Mama Bear?
Baby Bear says: Oh no! Mama Bear beats me all the time!
The judge then asks: Do you want to live with Pappa Bear?
Baby Bear says: Oh no! He beats me even more!
The judge asks: Well, who do you want to live with?
Baby Bear says: I want to live with the Chicago Bears, they don’t beat anyone!
Sometimes mgmt doesn’t realize what they have.
Like when Art Modell fired Marty Schottenheimer.
Or the Bears fired Lovie Smith.
Your team CAN get a lot worse with a new coach.
GO BLUE!
That arrogant Cutler doesn't care, he's already got his $100 Million contract and the Bears can lose just as easily with Clausen.
I’m old enough to remember when they were one of the better football teams in Michigan...
Indeed, it has been a tough stretch.
LOL!
The offer to Harbaugh looks robust, he could certainly turn the program around.
They love him in Indiana too from his time with the Colts.
He could recruit effectively.
$54 million guaranteed. $32 left over the next two years. I’m guessing there’s some arrogant coach and GM out there who really think that Jay’s problems are not his fault and they will be able to “fix” him.
Admitedly, you raise a good point regarding the Bears’ defense and line. It is certainly part of the problem. I think Tresman lost this team early in the season.
That’s not Jimmy Clausen. Clausen wore #7 at ND.

Bite your tongue!
It is Obama’s hometown.
Thank you Cutler, that masterful Monday night performance secured my team in the Championship game of my FF league. Maybe the Coach should be fired right after the Front office moron who agreed to to that mega million dollar contract that they gave Cutler.
Yes, yes, and yes. Fingers crossed here for sure.
