President and Michelle Obama personally identify with everyday experiences of racial bias in America that have underpinned recent protests across the country, they told People magazine in an interview to be released Friday.
Barack Obama was a black man that lived on the South Side of Chicago, who had his share of troubles catching cabs, Michelle Obama told the magazine.
On one occasion, she said, her husband was wearing a tuxedo at a black-tie dinner, and somebody asked him to get coffee.
President Obama said hes even been mistakenly treated as a valet.
Theres no black male my age, whos a professional, who hasnt come out of a restaurant and is waiting for their car and somebody didnt hand them their car keys, he said, according to excerpts of the interview released today.

Mistaken for a valet,trouble getting a taxi,wow!
Look at him now the Chief Government SERVANT!
MOVIN ON UP,TO THE EAST SIDE,GONNA GET MY PIECE OF THE PIE !
Mr. Obama, you need to hire a new Official White House Writer of Lies & Subterfuge, because these lies here, you being mistaken for a valet, Mooch, being ‘ordered’ to reach the top shelf for an elder, are simply not credible at all. Try harder.
These are my conservative friends I’m talking about. You are doing just what I described, assuming that because people are liberal they are more likely to stereotype.
The hierarchical instinct is deep in our culture. Ever hear about the pecking order, ever see Apocalypto? Americans supposedly do not have an official class system but we are just as susceptible to stereotyping as the rest of the human race.
You have to read the thinkers on this subject and work on your own outlook at some point in your life. Read the Letter of James: Have not respect of persons. That has to be deep within you so that you can see the spirit of the person you are talking to rather than the visual image.
I go to people’s homes to teach their children.
Some treat me as an honored teacher.
Some treat me as a guest.
But quite a few of them treat me as “The Help”. I mean to the point of making me wear paper booties over my shoes.
It goes with the territory.
There’s a difference between stereotyping and actual character. By defending the liberals in this manner, that puts one on one’s guard, incidentally. Not to mention that the northeast is full of those that say that they are conservatives but are not, kinda like many in the GOP establishment.
Misinterpreting James 2:1-10 for the purpose of illustrating that all stereotype is specious.
He also has been mistaken to be president of the USA.
How demeaning to millions of people who “serve” the public and are not in the millionaires club.
My B.S. detector went off when I saw the headline. The B.S. detector went off of the charts I looked at the picture of Moochele in the Target store. All of the Target employees wear red. Moochele is wearing a Nike cap and no red clothing. Nobody would mistake her for an employee. I am surprised that she is not claiming that she was falsely arrested for shoplifting.
See that they didn’t include the time Obama was mistaken for a junkyard dealer.
Obama asked, “Why would you imagine I ran a junkyard?”
“Well, isn’t that a junkyard dog next to you?
Woof, woof, woof
My wife is 4ft. 8in. tall and often asks taller people to reach things for her. This sounds like just another made up story by the moochers.
As we all know, this is utter BS. The media, on the other hand, will broadcast this far and wide as more proof of persistent racism while completely ignoring how Valerie Jarrett asked a general in full dress uniform to get her a glass of wine because she thought he was a waiter. That, of course, was just an innocent mistake.
If you've ever lived in the Middle East, traveled there, or had much contact with Muslims, you most likely know what I'm talking about. And, if you are the help (maid, nanny, driver, etc. - I haven't been any of these, but I've seen how they are treated), you are treated like the scum of the earth.
So, if you are tempted to choose to be insulted if someone treats you in what you think is a demeaning way, GET OVER IT! Life is too short to go around looking for ways to be insulted.
Nothing illustrates the difference, more clearly, between "crass" and "class," than the comparison with an experience that Madeleine Albright (a Dem!) had when serving as Secretary of State.
In a summit meeting somewhere in Europe, she arrived early and while walking around the room, someone (a Russian diplomat?) mistook her for a waitress and asked her for a cup of coffee.
Without a word, She went and got the coffee, and presented it with a smile.
Guess who will forever be remembered for arrogance, presumption and cluelessness?
And who will be remembered for her class?
Class always triumphs over crass.
Obama was mistaken for a leader by millions. The consequences have and will be insurmountable.
A valet would be the first real job he’s ever had.
Madeleine Albright mistaken for the cleaning lady
and last I knew, she wasn’t “black”.
Me on Race:
There have been three times in my life I have been victimized by crime. Each time the perps looked like sons of Obama.
Obama can take his pity party crap....”oh he thought I was a valet”.... and stick it up his rear.
It would be funny if people stopped asking blacks for help even if they WERE employees. Soon no one would want to hire blacks in any sort of job serving the public because no one would want to ask them for help. Whites would be hired instead. That would serve them right.
