I just heard a conversion, on the radio, between the show's host and a doctor concerning flu shots. The host asked, "What do you tell people who won't get a flu shot because they say it makes them sick?" The doctor replied, "Well, after you get the shot, you can't get the flu, but you might FEEL like you have the flu because of the reaction to the shot by your immune system". I don't know, but if I take something that makes me feel like I have the flu, I think I'd be safe in saying what Monica Lewinski's boyfriend's wife said, "What difference does it make".
I had the flu a couple of times till we moved to a small Texas town While living there we all had the flu every year. There was rule that if a highschool student had not missed s single day of school they did,t have to take the finals. Kids went to school sick and the entire town went down.
By this time vaccine no longer had a live virus and it did not make us feel bad. Several years ago I became sensitive to the preservative in the vaccine so now I will only take it without preservative.
October comes and. I get my flu shot every time.
I got a flu shot every year. Always have. Always will.
I’m not a fan of any vaccine, but with my last two pregnancies my OB convinced me. He almost lost a patient in her 3rd trimester to the flu a few years ago as it hits pregnant women hard.
About 6 years ago my entire family got hit wit the flu one by one. I did NOT want to catch it, but was waiting for the inevitable when a friend told me to eat raw garlic. I cut up the cloves into little pieces then swallowed them like pills (no chewing!). Even though I was taking care of everyone I felt fantastic, though I smelled pretty awful. I didn’t even care as I was stuck at home.
It’s hard to prove that it worked by me not catching it, but it must have helped as we have a small house with a lot of people in it. Since then I have made garlic tincture-even harder to take but you don’t smell bad and it’s shelf stable so I always have it on hand.

Take Vitamin D3...at least 5K if you live north of oh, say Phoenix...10K if you have symptoms....also get your doctor to check your VitaminD3 levels...should be 50-70...flu shot only covers 1-2 strains

Got my shot this year. The kids got the mist. My wife got nothing. She is now at the end stages of the flu she picked up a week ago … the rest of us are just fine.
You don’t have to get a shot. There is the nasal mist which I received. Very few get a reaction to the shot. The science is there that shows flu shots work. But it’s your health so do what you think is best for you.
Same here. Never get the flu shot, never get the flu.
Same with my sister, and my elderly mother. They never get it, either.
Back in November 2002, my father got the flu shot from a VA doctor. The next day, my father had the sniffles. The day after that, he woke up freezing cold. His body felt like a block of ice. He couldn’t even drink a glass of water without throwing up.
My sister and I took him to the ER. Dad was in the hospital for a week with pneumonia and congestive heart failure, and nearly died. Eventually, he recovered, but was never 100% his old self again. The doctor blamed it on the flu shot.
A young nurse at the hospital told me she got sick after getting the flu shot.
I know some people swear by them, but to each his (or her) own.
If you are exposed to the influenza virus and it manages to invade your body, you will get the flu. No matter how many vitamins and supplements you stuff in your body, you will get sick. The body has no natural defense that will fight off a virus that replicates that fast. And when I mean “sick” I’m not talking about those 24-48 hour stomach bugs. That’s not what the flu shot protects you from. That’s not the serious influenza. I mean extremely high fever, ache all over, flat on your back for a week or more, dehydrating like crazy, possible severe upper respiratory problems, taking every over-the-counter medication that works just to survive, and lose 10 pounds of bodyweight in the process. This is the influenza the shot protects you against. And, if you have never had the flu, then you are extremely lucky, or live in an environment where you don’t contact the public very much.
I’m an extremely healthy individual for my age (I’m a pilot, so I have to be) and any year that I miss taking the flu shot, I almost ALWAYS get sick with it. And, even though the shot might miss covering a strain of flu because that strain mutated, it also covers other strains that are just as likely to make you sick. This years’ shot covered four different strains.
The flu shot doesn’t give you live flu. The shot contains a dead virus. It CAN make you sick if you are allergic to eggs or have certain other allergies. But, allergies aren’t the flu.
There is a defined window of 10 days to 2 weeks before the shot becomes effective. If you get the shot today and then go running around with a bunch of sick people this week, you are likely going to come down with the flu. And, you will likely be one of those people who boast that the shot didn’t work and you will never take another one. The shot can only work if you give it a chance.
Please do the rest of us a favor and get a flu shot every year if you can make the window. You will likely save many lives, and maybe your own.
We did nit get our shots yet, and I think my daughter has flu. She’s a senior and it’s finals week. No way she is going to school. Her twin sister is not feeling great, and I think I may be coming down with it.
What I have done to prevent relapses is I removed all the fillings I could from my mouth and am taking D3.
Have not had a debilitating relapse since I started with that. Last bad year was 2007-2008 when I had three over that period and need to be hospitalized.
Still do not have many body functions (mostly coordination issues back. Walking is a bit impeded. As is balance.
But no relapses since 2008.
Now what do you mean about trying coconut oil? I have always loved cookies and other junk food and seem to have done very well so far. So as to “coconut oil” what do you mean?
Well that is not true. I take Vitamin D-3 and I take lots of orange juice for vit. c. I can still get the flu. I also try and wash my hands etc. but there aer times when I have still gotten the flu and colds.
I do believe vitamin D-3 will help with reductions in the flu and colds and reduce the length of a cold. It will also help boost the immue system. Vit. D-3, however, does not stop it.
During flu season, I stay away from people. Had a regular cold about a month ago, felt like crap for a week, coughing up stuff and blowing nose every few minutes. Got that on way back from going up north to New York state.
Each body is different in response to an invasive substance introduced to the body. I would take the shot gladly if it didn't do harm to my body.
Plenty of research has been done on coconut oil and it’s benefit in helping and reversing MS, Alzheimers, ALS, Parkinsons, etc...

Most years including this year the actual flu strain that develops is not the strain the flu shot is produced for. So this year if you get the shot its not going to protect you anyway.
