Mark Wahlberg seeks pardon for 1988 assaults

Actor Mark Wahlberg is asking Massachusetts for a pardon for assaults he committed in 1988 when he was a troubled teenager in Boston, saying he has dedicated himself to becoming a better person in his adult years so he can be a role model to his children and others.

The former rapper known as Marky Mark and a star of movies including "The Departed" and "The Gambler," set to open in theaters Dec. 19, filed a pardon application with state officials Nov. 26. New England Cable News first reported on the application Thursday.

In 1988, when Wahlberg was 16, he hit a man in the head with a wooden stick while trying to steal two cases of alcohol in front of a convenience store near his family's home in the Dorchester section of Boston, the application says. He punched another man in the face while trying to avoid police, the document says.

Wahlberg says in the application that he was high on marijuana and narcotics at the time, and police caught him with a small amount of pot. He also apologized for his actions.

He ended up being convicted as an adult of assault and other charges, and he was sentenced to three months in jail. He said he was released after serving about 45 days.

Wahlberg, 43, says in the application that he turned his life around and became a successful music artist, actor and film and television producer. He also notes he has raised millions of dollars for charity and donated his time and efforts for philanthropic causes.

He became a Hollyweird performer.

So as one of the elites’ performing stage monkies...

To the elites, the more criminal, immoral, corrupt and confused the monkey is, the more helpful the monkey is to their agendas and the easier it is for them to the control the monkey.

Sometimes, the drugs and alcohol are indulged in a little too much, and the monkey becomes useless as a performer, but to the elites, there are plenty more where that one came from !

Needless to say, for the most part crime, wackiness and immorality are not only acceptable in Hollyweird, they’re encouraged by the head stewards of Hollyweird, the studio heads and boards of directors, who supervise the entire performing monkey mind control machine on behalf of the elites.

Of course, for those performing monkeys whose primary target audience amongst the sheeple are law-abiding sheeple, a thin veneer of respectability must be maintained publicly.

Wahlberg was great in The Departed, but it wasn’t acting. He nailed it because that was him - full stop. 3 decamen and all.

If it was considered a felony, maybe now he wants to buy a firearm.

Is Hoa Trinh going to get his eye back?

No, he won't. I don't think the state should be able to punish you forever without holding you, though.

After you serve your sentence, you should be free to travel, own a weapon, hold office, or vote. If you can't do those things, the state retains jurisdiction.

If a pardon is the only way to get past that, I would support him or anyone else getting that pardon if they fulfill the requirements.

Really, though, what I support is the state punishing you, and then that punishment being done and over with. Then you could keep your conviction, businesses and such would be able to privately decide if you deserve hiring or trust or whatever, but lose the lifetime of being followed by the state.

If you are too messed up to own a gun, vote, or whatever, you should still be in prison. No half-way efforts.

Lived there for some time in Quincy though hated it, and yes you are correct.

The racism in MA, but also mainly Boston is the worst I have ever seen or heard.

South Boston where Marky Mark is from is a cesspit of racism.

Pardons are generally reserved for people that have been wrongly convicted of a crime, or people that have been convicted of a crime related to some stupid or convoluted law.

If we think people should be able to vote, have a concessionaire licence, own a firearm, etc. after paying their debt to society, we should change those laws.
