I’ve seen video of “Sub Training.” The trainees lived in a “mock-up” where they experienced random disasters including hull breaches and leaks.

They had to weld the leaks closed. It looked extremely demanding and difficult.

Should we assume ALL crew members still go through this training and meet the same standards?

i think there’s a fundamental flaw in the idea of developing women into combat soldiers. as well as considering it to be a good idea.

If you are around submariners then one thing you will notice is how they can zone out mentally, they can disappear from a room, without ever leaving the bar stool or chair, they just mentally separate totally for a few minutes.

We just need a new class of bigger submarines for the Obama Affirmative Action Navy. With Ladies rooms, Mens rooms, Gender-confused rooms, Breastfeeding rooms, Media Centers, Islamic Prayer rooms, Zumba & Yoga classes, etc.

Some 24,000 German submariners lost their lives in WW2.

Wow! A lot more than in WW1.

My WW1 figure came from the Wall Street Journal review of the book "Ring of Steel" by Alexander Watson, in the Nov. 22-23 weekend issue.

The book is not specifically about submariners, but rather the war from the Austrian and German perspective. It sounded good.

That’s pretty cool.

Have to get it done in some hellish South African gold mine otherwise.
