I’ve seen video of “Sub Training.” The trainees lived in a “mock-up” where they experienced random disasters including hull breaches and leaks.
They had to weld the leaks closed. It looked extremely demanding and difficult.
Should we assume ALL crew members still go through this training and meet the same standards?
Actually the Damage Control training facility in Groton was a lot of fun. Running around getting soaked by freezing cold water trying to repair leaks even though terribly cold was fun.
Having read a lot of post here with negative feelings about us bubbleheads is kind of distressing.
