It sounds like a large capital and time investment... which I am experienced at with making homemade mustard. Then there is the time that I made a cherry pie completely from scratch, starting with climbing a ladder and picking all the sour cherries within reach (that the resident black bear had not consumed) from my parents' cherry tree.

Picking the cherries, pitting the cherries, prepping the filling, making and rolling out the lard crusts (2 crust pie), filling the pie and baking, then cleanup... I added up all the labor on that one pie multiplied it by my billable rate as an engineer...

That one stupid pie was worth $320.00 of my time that I could have been using to design the HVAC for a clean room, performing a nodal analysis and calculating piping friction losses for a 400 ton chilled water system... or laying out a railroad yard, designing retaining walls, or rebuilding a 4400HP prime mover on a diesel locomotive.

There is not a big market for $40 slices of cherry pie when you can just buy a whole Mrs. Smith's pie on sale with double coupons for 49¢.

We were trying to teach Duke, our first Great Dane, to sit by giving him treats. He just didn’t get it. Then, one night we were having steaks. Duke walked up and was staring at the steaks. He started to drool. Then, you could watch him thinking. It was like the cartoon where the light bulb goes off over a character’s head. All of a sudden, he got it and his butt hit the floor so hard the table shook. He got a bite of steak.
