22 November 1963. 51 years ago. Do you remember where you were and what you were doing that day? I was in phys ed class and had just finished running the cross country course. As I walked up the locker room door, Coach Waite was sitting on the steps with his face in his hands. He was crying. I asked what was wrong and he told me that President Kennedy had been shot and killed. That was a bad day for me.
6th grade and history was being taught. Teachers started scurrying around in a dither and they brought a TV on a stand into the class to turn on the news coverage. Some teachers and kids were crying but I wasn’t into politics so it was just a break from the normal routine for me.
Interesting.
It must be have been a recent word in 1963, because it's not in my unabridged dictionary -- the 1956 publication of Webster's New International Dictionary Second Edition Unabridged (Merriam-Webster), which was the standard when it was published.
Khent would like to go see “One Direction” with you.
Good Lord, man! What HAPPENED to you????
That's a pity. Sounds like a lack of concentration.
"my cousin Wicky and I were hated because we just move from Dallas, the city that killed Kennedy."
I see teens were no more mature in the 60's.....
"My character finds out he knocked up Trish that night and she had his son but he never knew until he tracked her down 17 years later after finding the film--"
LMAO! http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/LukeYouAreMyFather
For people of my generation (I'm 31) I guess "Where were you on 9/11" is the equivalent.

I am 54, and I dont remember the assassination, but I remember being forced to watch the funeral. I am two weeks older than John-John.
Then we had Reagan getting shot.
Then there was the Challenger Explosion.
Then 9/11.
After a while it gets routine...
Are you my sister?
I know I am not supposed to reply to my own post, but this is kind of funny.
My mother-in-law is 92. Every anniversary, she goes to the local, Springfield MA, Kennedy Memorial at the local park. She loved Kennedy (being from MA and all. My father in law, not so much.)
So I dutifully take her yesterday. Cold as hell. I stand there with her and I watch these folks (there are fewer every year) getting all emotional. Then I realize that most of the people are YOUNGER than me.
I stood there thinking, “Stupid democrat robots.”
Well, null, I'd say 50 some odd years of drinking and... chasing women--
Drinking and... chasing women--
Drinking and... chasing women--
Drinking and... chasing women--
Drinking and... fishing--
Yeah, that damn fishing... got the best of me.
But I could... be wrong--
This school still has Latin--it continues to be a REQUIRED subject there.
My daughter started taking Latin in middle school. Last year, in fact, when she was in eighth grade.
Now she's a high school freshman. We got her first report card for the year a couple of weeks ago. All her grades were 90 or above (we are a little disappointed with that) except for one: she got a 100% in Latin!. On her report card! For the first quarter!
She seems to have a flair for Latin. I'm very proud of that.
She also is fluent in Chinese, having spent four or five summers there with her grandparents and aunts and cousins.
Gadzooks, GOP-- First 'irma' and now 'Khent'
It has gotten so bad... one needs a dictionary of the strange and unnatural to know just what the hell you are talking about--
There’s something fishy about your last post...
BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Touché, Bender!
That couldn't be bendy, Sam. He's been down here... getting an upgrade and reboot--
Well, since it is a Sunday, it must have been a... Holy Mackerel?
I find nothing strange... or unnatural about GOP's posts--
Neither... do I
Nor... I--
We don't... either--
Me... neither--
Then let's party... like there is no hell!
You want fries... with them martinis?
Bender...that’s just poetry in motion! A+++
Ahhhhhhhhh, GOP-- You silver tongued... devil!
