SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. Investigators said one person is dead after a detached truck tire bounded across Route 28 Friday morning and smashed into an oncoming car.
Officials said the accident happened just before 11 a.m. near the Shaler Water Facility.
Channel 11s Alan Jennings reported the tire came from a Ford F-450 with a tarp-covered trailer that was heading southbound on Route 28.
Channel 11s Rick Earle has learned the victims car was driving north when the tire hopped over the jersey barrier and hit the drivers side windshield.
A man was driving and his wife was in the back seat because she has a boot on her leg.
The Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 75-year-old Robert Lofink, of Gibsonia.

Police said the driver of the truck -- identified as 23-year-old Eric Gonzales-Huerta, did not stay on the scene of the accident.

Just an FYI. WTAE this morning finally got around to referring to the driver as an illegal. Didn’t say anything about the other occupants of the vehicle.
The point I was making is a wheel can come off a vehicle regardless of the identity or status of the driver. The other points you have are valid and form part of the reason we need to lock down our southern border.
I wasn’t trying to make a point. I was only asking a question is all.
I am not giving the illegals a pass, if that’s what you mean.
There could be legit reasons... the car was sent to a scrap yard, the car was put in storage, or they could be people who just don't register and/or insure.
Those latter are the people the cops don't catch unless they have some reason to pull them over or until there is a tragedy like this one.
Probably not here, but on some of the leftwing sewers (i.e., Daily Kos, DUmmies, etc.), yeah, you would...
