PITTSBURGH (KDKA) A local woman is the latest of more than a dozen women to accuse comedian Bill Cosby of being a sexual predator.
Renita Chaney Hill, 47, tells KDKA reporter Ralph Iannotti she was a 15-year-old model and aspiring actress when she first met Cosby back in the 1980s.
He was in Pittsburgh looking for performers to appear in his educational television segments Picture Pages, which filmed in the city. Hills modeling agency recommended her and she got the job.
She says she was star struck.
Promises of bright lights and fame. Thats where I thought I was headed, thats what everyone who knew me thought I was headed, Hill told Iannotti.
Her appearance in Cosbys videos was the start of a four-year, on-again, off-again relationship with the actor.
He would fly me to a number of cities, including New York and Atlanta she remembers. He would be busy during the day, then Id come to his hotel room at night, she said.
Hill says when she was alone with Cosby the scenario was always the same. Cosby would insist she have a drink even though she was underage. She says she now believes she was drugged.
One time, I remember just before I passed out, I remember him kissing and touching me and I remember the taste of his cigar on his breath, and I didnt like it, Hill said. I remember another time when I woke up in my bed the next day and he was leaving, he mentioned you should probably lose a little weight. I thought that odd, how would he know that?
Hill says after a while she began to put two and two together.
I always thought it was odd that after I had this drink I would end up in my bed the next morning and I wouldnt remember anything, Hill said.
She says she doesnt know if she was raped because she was unconscious.
It just felt weird to me, and I remember being in high school saying to him, Ill come see you, but I dont want to drink because it makes me feel funny, Hill said. And he would tell me that if I didnt drink, I couldnt come see him.
When she was 19, Hill says she decided to have no further contact with Cosby, even though she says he was paying her college tuition and her family had accepted what appeared to them to be a father-like mentoring relationship. She says she also gave up her dream of becoming an actress.
It was just a horrifying feeling thinking that as a part of your dream you felt like this was something you had to endure, Hill said. And thats why I couldnt do it anymore, and I just walked away.
Hill says her family, including her husband and three daughters, were aware of her experience. She never told her story publicly, but after hearing Cosbys attorney criticize the other women who have recently accused Cosby of sexual assault or misconduct, she decided to come forward.
She makes no apologies for waiting more than three decades to tell her story.
No one wants to be associated with something like this, said Hill. But the bottom line for me is that no one has the right to violate someone else, no matter who they are. I dont care how big they are or how the community sees them, its not right.
When asked what she would say to Cosby if given the chance.
You know, I thought about that over the years. Why would you do that to a young girl? Being Bill Cosby, you could have had anyone. You didnt have to do that to a young girl, Hill said.
If the Black Left Leadership didn’t like Cosby’s message, why is it all white women who are alleging rape?
Has Cosby denied any of these charges?
It’s strange that all these women are piling on so many years after the fact.
I’m not judging anybody, not Cosby and not his accusers.
Well, yes, I’ve seen at least a couple of black women, including this one, accusing Cosby of this stuff.
“Honk if you’ve been molested by Bill Cosby.”
Cosby does not lean right. He said some good things in a speech a decade ago...but he is anti-gun, a strong Obama supporter, and generally a lefty.
It helps feed the narrative that Cosby isn’t a legitimate black man: Not only doesn’t he accept the assigned political views, he consorts with the enemy.
He would fly me to a number of cities, including New York and Atlanta she remembers. He would be busy during the day, then Id come to his hotel room at night, she said.
Yeah, and he did so because you are a scintillating conversationalist!
Everyone knew then as they know now that if a Hollywood star is flying you around the country to join him in his hotel room, you are putting out - as expected. You are a whore. You just get payment in a different form.
That was my first thought and still is.
However, if there is a wretched motive, it unfortunately may be accompanied by allegations that are true. The accuser from the 2002 incident - would that be beyond the SOL?
More than a dozen now - Cosby was a busy man.
Not too busy. 30 year time span.............
Look at this view of life in the Playboy mansion, one of Cosbys favorite hang-outs. He stayed for weeks at a time until the 1980s, when he was in his forties. All while he was married.
The S.O.P. at the Playboy mansion was to let “models” and would-be playmates hang around, in exchange for sex with Hef and his pals, like Cosby.
They used quaaludes to get the girls “in the mood.”
Shades of Cosby and is “Spanish Fly” comedy skit.
The whole thing disgusts me but nothing disgusts me more than the Jerry Springer types who immediately target the women who aren’t on board with destroying him.
You should see the filth being thrown at Stacy Dash because she said that in her dealings with Cosby, he’s never been anything but a perfect gentleman.
I cannot help but think that some of those defending him against multiple women coming forward with credible accusations of sexual sins are "me too" Cosby's, sorta vicariously
Hill says after a while she began to put two and two together.
a while = 43 years
Did you note in the article that she was a 15 year old child when this happened?
This is how Cosby got away with it. He was more selective, but he was also protected by his superstar status.
“How BBC star Jimmy Savile allegedly got away with abusing 500 children and sex with dead bodies”
Jimmy Savile was never a handsome man. His face, even in his early days at the BBC, was all sharp edges the hook of his nose, the jagged-tooth grin, the boggle-eyed look of eccentricity, humor and derangement. At times, he seemed almost make believe. He had platinum hair. A fat cigar perpetually hung out of his mouth. He seemed to communicate exclusively in catchphrases: now then, now then, howzabout that then, as it appens. The kids just loved his gags.
There was always something off about Savile, who hosted the BBCs Jimll Fix it, palled around with the royal family, reportedly spent holidays with the Thatchers and was knighted not only by Queen Elizabeth but by Pope John Paul II. But most forgave his idiosyncratic nature. He was, after all, a great man. He raised $5.2 million for a hospital in Leeds, one of the United Kingdoms largest. He volunteered countless hours as a hospital aide, busing patients to and fro. He helped scores of young doctors get their starts.
Sure, there were rumors. Whispers that he wasnt everything he seemed. Murmurs he was really a sexual predator and had abused dozens of children. But they never stuck. Not Jimmy Savile, people told themselves not fix-it Jim.
On October 29, 2011, Savile died at his home in Leeds. Most of all, I remember him as just a totally flamboyant, over-the-top, larger-than-life character, radio presenter David Hamilton told the Guardian, praising his tireless philanthropy. And as he was on the air, he was just the same off.
But he wasnt. And just how wrong that assessment was emerged this month.
Savile, according to a U.K. National Health Service investigation released Thursday, was a prolific pedophile. The health service investigation only confirmed behavior described in several earlier probes since his death. In all, Savile is believed to have abused at least 500 girls and boys, some as young as two, most between 13 and 15, as well as countless adults ranging up to 75 years old. With unfettered access to Leeds General Infirmary, the health service report said, he raped and fondled boys, girls, men and women in offices and corridors. He also allegedly committed sexual acts on dead bodies, and even told several hospital workers that he made jewelry out of one mans glass eyeball.
As shocking as the findings are, even more shocking is the fact that Savile got away with it for so long. That realization has shaken our country to the core, U.K. Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt said Thursday. For decades, while Savile hosted show after show and glad-handed, the abuse went on. Numerous columns have asked: How? How did no one know? Why wasnt he stopped?
The answer, according to the National Health Service, psychologists, and academics, lies in the pervasive and intimidating power of celebrity. He was so well-known that even when his behavior struck some as strange or lewd, he was allowed to carry on because he was Jimmy Savile and was raising millions. I dont know if he were a law unto himself, but because of his celebrity status, he sort of basically had the run of the place, one hospital worker told investigators.
One woman recalled Savile sexually assaulting her when she was 16. Even decades later, she told investigators, she remembered it vividly. After he was done, he turned an imperial eye to her. You wont talk about this, he told her. Nobody will believe you. Im Jimmy Savile. I can get you. The girl said she told her mother, but she didnt believe her. The girl never talked about it again.
If your own mom wouldn't believe you, who would? This is how Cosby got away with it.
I’ve read some jokes from the Roman era and they are hardly any different from today. People never change...................
Example:
Some provincial man has come to Rome, and walking on the streets was drawing everyone’s attention, being a real double of the emperor Augustus. The emperor, having brought him to the palace, looks at him and then asks:
-Tell me, young man, did your mother come to Rome anytime?
The reply was:
-She never has. But my father frequently was here.
