Bit early to be posting the celebrities list but post Veterans day, this is some good triva.
Wiki has a list of surviving notable veterans of World War II. I was able to sort the list by age to find the oldest and youngest of them. I had found this list a couple of years ago and at the time, James Garner was one of the youngest on the list at 16 in 1944.
Ignoring the two people who have no birth date or year, there are 1253 people on the list. The youngest are Daniel Ivins, a Yugoslavian partisan (b. 1932) and Eric Carle (b. 1929) who was conscripted by the Germans to dig trenches at age 15. The list shows five people born in in 1928 and then much larger groups for 1927 through about 1915 (would be 29/30 in 1944). 32 people start the list with the oldest being 105 (b. 1909).

Yeah, as we approach Christmas, the media turn their attention to the death of... celebrities. Go figure. Staffers spend a lot of time compiling their morgue files for when a celebrity passes (they are assembled years before the person actually dies; some have unfortunately aired without cause leading people to prematurely think that Bob Hope, for example, died).
It's a "shame" that they can only put them into rotation for one day...

Actually, I dont mind these yearly roundups of celebrity deaths. I hardly read the paper and watch TV news only sporadically. So I might not know a favorite actor from years ago has passed until these retrospectives are published. ABE VIGODA UPDATE:
Still living.

Poor guy. Every other year someone reports that Mr. Vigoda has died. Can't be good for the man's self esteem. The problem is when he does pass from this world, no one will believe it.
Hoping for many more years, Mr. Vigoda.
