VAN NUYS (CBSLA.com) A man risked his life when he ran back into his burning apartment to rescue his cat.
The fire broke out inside a three-story building in the 8100 block of Langdon Avenue on Sunday, according to LA firefighters.
The fire was contained to the one apartment, and the man was able to get out safely.
However, he rushed back into the fire to get his cat, which was still in the apartment.
In his rescue attempt, the man ended up suffering from smoke inhalation, and firefighters say he was in critical condition on Sunday evening.
His rescue efforts paid off, however, as the cat is reported to be doing fine.
Poor man. I’d do the same thing if it was happening to me and my kitty.
Pinging this to Slings
I’m not particularly a fan of cats, but I can sympathize with his desire to save his pet/companion, and I would have done the same if my dog was in peril in such a situation.
I hope he survives and is reunited with his cat.
Many will mock him. It might have been foolish but i suppose he thought he could make it OK. I hope he makes it for having the compassion to try to save one of Gods helpless creatures.
I think he was acting purely on instinct, I would have done that if it had been a dog or cat left behind, without thinking of myself until it was too late.
I really hope the guy gets better and is reunited with his cat.
The cat probably set the fire in the first place. It was all part of the plan.
I don’t blame him one bit. I would definitely attempt to save my precious Maine Coon cat. He is my baby.
I’m amazed that he was able to find his cat. They have a tendency of hiding in the strangest places.
Then again, I live in a house and not in an apartment.
Still, I’m amazed.
I pray they will be reunited quickly.
Good man!
Dude is one crazy Kat.
Wudduh I know.
I’d walk on coals for my dogs.
Read the story.
8 lives left.
I hope he makes it through this ok. That is dedication to your pet.
FTA: Cat made it okay but not clear whether it was due to the man’s efforts or kitty fled to safety on its own. I can’t see risking myself like that.
Oh, for a dog, sure.
(I am being a stinker, LOL.)
I hope the guy recovers & he and his kitty are reunited.
I once knew a young woman who jumped from a boat to “save” her dog from drowning. She couldn’t get the dog back into the boat, and ended up drowning herself. The dog swam back to shore. Very sad.
Bubbles!!!!
The wise kitty whisperer, and kitty day care provider. Plus he plays a mean guitar.
I love Bubbles.
Good on this guy and on his kitteh too. Hope they find a nice new pet friendly apartment with a sprinkler system.
Poor man. Bless his heart. Hope he’ll be ok.
I’d most likely do the same thing.
Glad kitty is ok.
