A teacher from the Republic of Ireland has been turned down for a job in South Korea due to the alcoholism nature of Irish people.
Katie Mulrennan, from County Kerry, had applied for a teaching job in Seoul. She was told by an agency that their client did not hire Irish people due to their perceived drinking habits.
The 26-year-old told the BBC that she could not believe the email was real at first. [ ]
Last week, she received a reply that said: I am sorry to inform you that my client does not hire Irish people due to the alcoholism nature of your kind.

They like potatoes too.
Hey, 50% of the food they eat is gross fermented stuff. They certainly have no room to judge.
There are medical tests for nondrinkers today, so this sounds kind of bizarre and antiquated.

Don’t know why, but this story reminded me of this great and wise advice....
Never take a snort from your flask during a job interview, but if you do, always offer a drink to the interviewer.

Lol...this coming from the nation that introduced the world to soju.
Ok, well give some land to the N*****s and the chinks, but we dont want the Irish!
I was reading an article last night about Irish fathers and sons, and memories came flooding back of the time I took my son out for his first drink. Off we went to our local bar, which is only two blocks from the house.
I got him a Guiness Stout. He didn’t like it - so I drank it.
Then I got him an Old Style, he didn’t like it either, so I drank it.
It was the same with the Coors and the Bud.
By the time we got down to the Irish whiskey . . .
I could hardly push the stroller back home.
"But we don't want the Irish."
Yes, but we are highly functioning alcoholics.
Indeed so. For only the USA has problems with racism and bigotry after all . . . the rest of the world is utterly guiltless in that regard, right?
South Korea probably has more drunks than Ireland
South Korea pretty much celebrates drunkeness
Yes, if the stories about their youth passing out in the streets due to overindulgence in soju aren’t exaggerating.
Sadly, it’s all true.
God made Irish Whiskey to keep them from one day ruling the world.
God made the Jews first, and improved upon the prototype by making the Irish.
The Jews were sore upset, so he inspired the Irish to make Irish Whiskey. Problem solved. No angels deployed to slaughter the mistake.
The Irish have served Europe well though, and Western Civilization to boot. Sober enough to be useful, too drunk to be effective. We make great corporate tax law. Ireland is booming.
Gotta go now. Got to get out in front of this headache. Might even smack my dog, wife, kids, or parents about for a bit of exercise. Then off to the track, Confession, then Mass.
Anyone who watches Korean dramas can tell you there is no social taboo of drinking in that country, it is usually expected as a condition of employment that you will go out drinking as a group at least once a month.
Otherwise it leads to piggy-back rides.
