But yeah, you're right, the two-month extension was part of that GOP-E/Upton/Bush crap sandwich that banned incandescent light bulbs to fight global warming.
I hope that "Lightbulb" Fred Upton is really proud of himself.
I think they mean “sham” not “shame.”
I know I’m in the minority, but I look forward to DST every spring. But either way... I think the hyperbole this issue causes is hysterically funny. Wow, people! Get a life!
Only the stupidity of gov’t...much like the bucket and shallow/deep end analogy, only they could come up with a law that they could tout as ‘saving/costing’ an hour.
The Sun is not amused, and the cock still crows on his rise...not the gov’t time.
Greatest shame? Pffttt!
I now work with a global team and this “fall back” is causing me a lot of sleep loss! I used to be able to hold my meetings at 7 am and it would still be a reasonable hour for those that are 12 hours ahead of me...Now I have to either start them at 6 am, or they have to be on the call until 9 pm.....
Neither is a good option.
More people have died because of Daylight Savings than died in WW1, WW2, Vietnam, and Korea combined ...
“greatest shame”? that’s really stupid.
DST is a stupid idea, but it’s the best attempt at a solution for something that has no solution.
You could move to a state or country that doesn’t have DST!
For the first time ever I wished AZ did DST this weekend. That’s because I work on a SF convention that shifted from its normal weekend to the one just passed, the idea of scheduling 2 1AM panels really intrigued me. Of course I doubt anybody would have been awake for them, especially not the second 1AM panel (which would have to have been about deja vu), but it would have looked awesome on the schedule.
Utterly despise DST.
The hassle of changing clocks.
The loss of morning light.
The irritation of writing software to accommodate it.
The denial of astronomical realities.
The inconsistencies among jurisdictions.
The pain of adapting children’s sleep patterns.
It’s BS.
As President my first Executive Order would be to cancel DST.
I’m calling headline error - surely the author meant “sham”. In any case, I don’t think DST holds a candle to, say, Global Warming or Prohibition in terms of pure flim-flam. 0bamacare is gaining on them both.
He obviously never heard of a guy named Obama.......
Noticing can be done about the fact that the days are ahirter in the winter, but I enjoy having just a little more daylight at the end of the day. And yes, I spent my formative years on a farm, and No, the animals didn’t care about the semi-annual shift.
How about we just do this, in April we move the clocks ahead 1/2 hr and call it good, no spring forward, no fall back?
No more DST! Standard time year round!
