They are still run by microprocessors, whether they have a digital display or not. I think I have the same washer you have. I learned to just let it do its thing and ignore it. If you really must stop it to throw in another piece of laundry, just hold down the start button until the lid latch clicks open. Then just hit the start button to resume.

There isn’t one microprocessor in my washer...I’ve had it all apart. It has a mechanical timer, relays, switches and all that, but no semiconductor devices. There are no lights on it at all, in fact.
