He's the youngest American to visit all 193 member nations of the United Nations, and he's well on his way to visiting all 324 on The Travelers’ Century Club list, which includes territories and unique destinations in addition to nations. (Lee expects to have 321 of the 324 countries checked off by the end of the year).

I just came back from a trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. I enjoyed both of them thoroughly.
While we loved our time in Haiti and PAP...it is a nightmare to live there...and we were there before the place went completely upsidedown politically and long before the earthquake.
I’ve lived in both Texas and western Washington states.
I like to keep to myself, and frankly the over-friendly people in the southern tier of states tend to irritate me. I prefer distance and personal space except in emergencies, such as volcanoes erupting or earthquakes or tornadoes or hurricanes.
As for gas station attendants, Washington is a “pump your own gas” state. Where ever did you find a gas station attendant? That may explain the attitude.

Love the Hank Snow reference. I grew up working on the farm with my father. Hank Snow,Hank Williams SR., Elvis,Everly Bros, and Eddy Arnold was always being played on the 8track.
That was the first person I talked to as we entered Seattle. I know it is unfair for me to judge a city by one person but it still ticked me off.
I used to work for an international rent-a-rig outfit. The pros there said that if we got sent to Nigeria, be sure to bring a lot of cheap watches. When you head for the camps out in the bush, wear a half dozen on your arm, spaced so only one at a time is visible. (Subsidiary advice: Wear a long-sleeved shirt so this can be done.)
Then, when a roadblock, manned by people in Army uniform, is encountered, and the "soldiers" demand payment for passage, you hand 'em your shiny $10 Wal-Mart watch. They never said what happened if you didn't have, or ran out of watches. Probably didn't want to scare the Newbies

Have you ever been to Pittsburgh? That town has won top honors a number of times as the best place to live.

Reminds me of a time years ago when I was in Dallas, making a connection with TransTexas Airlines (aka TreeTop Airlines). An hour before the scheduled flight time they called the flight. I asked the attendant what happened. She said everyone who had a reservation was already at the airport, so they decided to send the flight.
I had a college professor who was from Bangladesh. A real nice guy. A number of years later I ran into at a Walmart in the summer. The temp was close to 100 degrees f and extra high humidity. It was literally an effort to breathe and felt like the inside of a sauna. After I did a little whining about the temp, my college prof said every day in Bangladesh is like this. I put Bangladesh off my list of countries to visit before I die.

Not surprised that Khartoum, Sudan made the list. I read a clever book called “Baghdad Without A Map” years ago. The author traveled to various places and wrote of Khartoum: “In Khartoum, the streets are paved with sh*it.” Literally. The photo at this story’s link pretty much indicates the same thing.
Having said that, the mess the world is in is not funny at all. Sad, distressing, frightening. It’s not getting better, either. What can be done?
I don’t want to bring the miserable, uneducated, poverty-stricken billions to the USA, but someone, something, needs to get a handle on their rates of reproduction, for one thing.
A lot of Muslims in Nigeria, and a big push to convert other African countries to Islam. I don’t know what they are promising, but they’re not delivering. Surprise, surprise.
