Emily Ruckle is finally on her way home from the hospital.
The eight-year-old was mauled by a pitbull her family had been fostering a month ago.
The dog, named Frank, was being kept in a separate in-law suite and when Emily opened the door, it attacked.
"First he bit me on the hip to knock me down and then he knocked me down and grabbed my arm but he was going for the back of my neck," Emily said.
Her 15-year-old sister came to the rescue in time to save Emily's life, though her arm was already torn off.
When police arrived, they were forced to shoot the animal.

The media treated the parents with such tenderness and dignity. They don’t deserve it. Anyone that would allow their children to be so close to pit bulls are idiots.
The Dogs of Peace are at it again, I see.
Don’t you dare call pit bulls a wild breed, or their defenders will rip you to shreds.
Because you deserve it.
i agree and she went to CHOP not duPont
Agree. Negligent parents.
Anybody that owns one of these dogs is an idiot. Anyone that has one around a child should have their children taken away.
Why even have such a dangerous animal around. It doesn’t matter what breed the dog is, I’m talking about temperment. What is the point of housing a wild beast like that where a child can walk up to it? I hope the two of them learned from this, but I’m not so sure they have ‘got it’ yet.
Too bad there wasn’t a cop around to shoot the dog. They (the cops) were all busy shooting Golden Retrievers and Yellow Labs.
“Anyone that would allow their children to be so close to pit bulls are idiots.”
Misinformed.
Prayers up for the girl’s recovery. The doctors were able to reattach her arm, and hopefully she will recover the use of it.
