I tried to persuade you to prepare for whats coming and, in the process, revealed that to you that Im preparing. You realized that I have food, guns, etc., and ended up saying, half kidding but half serious, Ill come to your place when SHTF.
No you wont. I will shoot you. If you threaten me and my family, I will use force to defend against any threat. And showing up at my place hungry and unprepared is a threat to me. You will eat my food and use up my medical supplies, generator, firewood, etc. Thats less of these life-saving things for me and my family. Thats a threat.
Is this greed on my part? No. I will take care of the truly needy those who cannot take care of themselves. But you are different. Very different. You had plenty of chances to prepare for yourself.

My folks were dirt poor, but what is now considered "prepping" was their basic way of life.
To the, a trip to the grocery store was like a safari, many miles away.
You buy your canned goods in the fall, right after harvest when they are the cheapest for the year.
You grow a garden and can all you are able to.
Carrots, beets and other root crops go in sand in the cellar.
Brussels sprouts can be picked all winter from the stalk.
Shoot a deer and can or corn the meat.
By my parents standards, YOU are rich.
You obviously have electricity, a computer, and maybe even running water, probably even a phone.
All of these are needless, expensive luxuries.
If you're in a cold climate, better have plenty of blankets.
It got down to 42 below zero inside the former logging company camp where we lived.
As long as your brain, mouth, an ear and hopefully an eye work, you can make more bucks if need be.
My hope is, that should I get down to only those parts functioning, I can still make extra cash.
Of course, the preference is to have more of the body functional!
A good book to read is, "We Took To The Woods", by Louise Rich.
They weren't "prepping", but every winter they holed up in their house on the Rapid River in Maine.
yup.
My family were Preppers before Prepping was cool too. The climate was moderate...four distinct seasons but not so cold. Growing, canning, and everything you said....my mother believed in having at least a three year supply of food on hand.
My parents could probably have “out-poored” yours, but we live in the 21st Century now, not the early 20th. You make a lot of assumptions about my situation, yet you know almost nothing about me.
“with a walk in cooler and meat shop”
Pretty neat! How’d you get a walk in cooler?
Good find.
“The people at the government office let me know, in no uncertain terms, that I was the guy who PAID for food stamps, not received them.”
You mean they wouldn’t let you get them?
Seems to be the system in a perfect world would be give and take - people would pay in and take out as needed. However, it’s turned into just what you said - some people pay, some take - and the lines are rarely crossed.
“First. the buckets have a good strong seal to keep the paint from spilling out. The seals are made to be able to repeatedly open and close we have tested several buckets and found about 233 times is great before the seals start to wear out.”
Awesome! I love those 5 gallon buckets and now I know why ;)
Sterno doesn’t. 90 % ethanol. Log10 kill in less than ten minutes. 99.99999999% kill rate. As good as 10% bleach, if not better. As hand sani of course. Acetic acid kills these filoviruses too. 3% is enough. Household vinegar is 5%.
Just trying to keep some freepers alive.
Wish I could help you.
We will be moving cross-country and I could let you have a bunch of my supplies, well, some of my supplies, if you were in Mexifornia. I’m trying to move as much as I can, since to repurchase them would be costly now. I bought wheatberries at $36 a super pail and now I see they are at $56. I’m not willing to part with those babies since they will outlast me, but I have other items. Freepmail me if you are nearby (near the San Joaquin valley, southern CA)
Other than that, anything extra you can buy on sale and squirrel away will help! I’m sure you know this, you are a smart and resourceful guy.
I have that book, We Took to the Woods, it is prominently displayed and loved.
Never thought anyone would know about it.
What when that runs out.
If you just follow the 3 week doubling curve..... 5 billion people infected in less than a year and a month.
If current survivability stats keep... 2 out of the 7 billion people left. That is before anarchy, starvation, etc....
Thanks. Love your FR page, BTW. I’m LOL.
I am only just starting to look into prepping, I am seeking a firearms license in my state, and have some water purification ability, and some stored canned food, but that’s it. Can you recommend any good sites with more information for a beginner?
We don’t have a “Prep Plan”, so much as a bug-out plan. his house is not defendable, and too close to the Gi’medat’s and their main route, the interstate.
The “Bug-out” plan requires getting to large family resources an hour away, but it can be done without using major roads, or going through any towns.
Louise Rich’s “We took to the woods” is a fantastic read about living independently... I also loved her other books about the history of the Maine Coast and the Gouldsboro Peninsula.
There's only one condition ... All such guests better be willing to work to the best of their abilities....and the work will be virtually non-stop.
