Vectors pointing to a GOP win and I want to wish Harry by-by.

Hubris. Don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

There is a saying that the GOPe has perfected.

"Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory"

*bias media*

At a minimum we could defund NPR/PBS but I don’t see that happening.

Republican Party was formed in 1854, so someone else hung the tag on Jackson, probably the Whigs.

As Capt. Hook said, I stand corrected.

Thanks for the assist.

Where were you people back in the 70s when I was being forced to write term papers and book reports and whatnot? I coulda been a "A" student.

I don’t see Reid retiring. I think he likes the trappings of power. Having said that, it may depend on who replaces him. If the Governor of Nevada appoints a replacement for a retiring Senator, then there’s no way Reid retires. The Governor of Nevada is a Republican. If, however, the state doesn’t appoint a replacement but instead holds an election then maybe Reid retires if he handpicks the Democrat nominee. Ultimately, I don’t think he retires.

I would call up members of the journ-o-list. Ask them why all media happens to use the same word, such as “gravitas.”

Reporting from the Old Dominion, Ed Gillespie remains 7-9 points behind Mark Warner, and I don’t see him closing that gap by election day. Gillespie has run one of the most lackluster campaigns I’ve ever seen and for all his political acumen (

(former RNC chairman, senior White House aide), Gillespie had trouble attracting donors for much of the year—his first ad buy in the critical D.C. market didn’t begin until late September.

Of course, it doesn’t help that more than a dozen RINOs (including former Senator John Warner) have endorsed the Democrat incumbent, Mark Warner. The only good news for Republicans in Virginia this election cycle is that Eric Cantor was sent packing and it looks like Barbara Comstock will hang on to Frank Wolf’s Congressional seat in northern Virginia. Unfortunately, the Virginia GOP is still at war with itself and won’t win very many statewide races until that conflict ends (i.e., the Tea Party displaces the RINOs)

Don't start celebrating just yet. True, the Republicans will probably take the Senate.

BUT:

Consider that Republican RINOcrats have made it very clear that they are only too happy to pass the Obama agenda if they win the Senate. So that means the Republicans will give the Obama administration BI-PARTISAN COVER for the next two years leading up to the 2016 presidential elections.

Moreover, a Republican Senate victory will prove to the big goverment loving RINOcrats that they don't need the conservative base, on whom they have declared outright WAR, so you can forget about them becoming more conservative anytime soon -- not that we have any more time to wait.

You think it's crazy to say that Republicans intend to pass the Democrat agenda? Consider that:

The Republican leadership is lowering expectations about what they'll do if they take the Senate in 2014.

John McCain is already promising to restore the filibuster and promising to expedite approval of Obama's nominees “I will work very hard to go back to 60 votes,” said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who boldly predicts a Republican Senate would process Obama’s nominees “more rapidly than [Democrats] do today.”

And as for the House: John Boehner: ‘Very Few’ Republicans Will Oppose Me

Oh, and best of all, now Republicans are promising that a Senate takeover will increase the odds of passing immigration reform. Republicans: Immigration reform is more likely to happen if we take the Senate

Well at least the Republicans will repeal Obamacare. Oh wait, they won't.

The only SLIM chance we have to save our country at this point is to demonstrate beyond a doubt that the GOPs "moderate" agenda is doomed to fail at the polls.

Only then will we have a chance of having a true conservative Presidential nominee in 2016, and the utter collapse of Democrat credibility after two more years of their control of the Senate.

It is terrible to consider two more years of Democrat Senate Control, but no less terrible to consider the result of GOPe control.

Ok, I’ll remove that one from the “trending.” I did see one poll that had Warner slipping, but probably not that much.

What has to be extremely troubling for Mark Warner is that his last two internal campaign polls have shown his lead to be in free fall and that was before the Washington Post (I still can’t believe I’m writing that) broke #BRIBESTORM. According to anonymous sources close to Warner, his most recent poll only gave him a +4 lead over Gillespie, which is down from the +6 lead in his previous internal campaign poll (and that was down from a +10 lead in the poll before that, which corresponds with the MWU poll.)

It makes good sense to me to vote straight “R”, even if you have to hold your nose to do it —EXCEPT— for Boehner and McConnell where I’d consider voting for any other opponent —AND— only if we are confident we will have ample seats in the senate to make up for McConnell’s loss. I’m not worried about the house at all - we won’t lose the house. Period.

But if we fear the senate will be too close, then we have to re-elect McConnell as distasteful as that is. Maybe, some of the new senators will lead the charge to vote against his leadership or some other miracle...

If only Ohio and Kentucky could see the message they could send to the GOPe by tossing Boehner and McConnell overboard. I think it would be worth giving up those two specific congressional seats to anyone else as long as we win the majority in both houses.

“I would NOT be surprised if the GOP takes the Senate that Harry Reid may just announce his retirement”

Only after he confirms Eric Holder as Ginsburg’s replacement in the lame duck session .

If I was the new Majority Leader in that case, I’d open up several panels into corruption on the part of the former Majority leader and keep them going until the next election was over.

I would much prefer he/she take the gavel from Harry and beat the hell out of him first, then start corruption proceedings.

Most like the Libertarian candidate in GA will keep Nunn from 50% and Perdue will squeak it out in the Jan 6th runoff. If we are lucky. He is a terrible candidate.

Let me take this opportunity to thank all of my fellow Georgians who were so stupid as to select David Perdue over any of the other GOP candidates who would likely be leading Nunn at this point.

Thanks for the update...naturally, there’s been nothing about Warner’s shrinking lead in the MSM here in Virgina; in my part of the state (Hampton Roads), political reporting usually consists of regurgitating Warner press releases, so the local media is making its in-kind contribution to the Senator’s campaign.

Still, I’ve got my doubts about Gillespie. I live in a Congressional district that is at least R+6 and the GOP effort has been lackluster, to say the least. The Republican Congressman is cruising towards re-election, but there has been no real effort to maximize the vote in a heavily Republican district.

If the Fairfax firewall is in trouble, Ed Gillespie has a chance. But, as you observe, he has to make the most of the time he has left. And I just don’t see it from his low-energy/no-energy campaign.

This is very premature, but I think Barbara Comstock may be the GOP’s next real hope of winning a Senate race in VA. None of the current GOP congressmen show any interest, and I think she could have very broad appeal.
