DishTV has removed a number of stations! (vanity)

Dish TV has eliminated a number of stations (unfortunately, MSNBC was not one of them).

From their website:

"Our contract with Turner Networks (Turner) has expired and they have removed CNN, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, CNN en Español, Headline News, truTV, and Turner Classic Movies from DISH’s channel lineup

At DISH, we believe the customer should always come first. That’s why we work hard to bring you the best programming at a fair value. Learn more about our commitment to you."

Should I switch to DirectTV?

We used to have Direct TV and they dropped stations so MrD insisted we drop Direct TV. We did and in a few months Direct TV got those stations back. Oh well!

I’m all for competition.

Satellite TV and Radio are doomed eventually, but for now I would proceed based on available station preference.

Direct TV is a ripoff too, pretty soon all programming will be streamed.

Um, what in your right mind ever caused you to select Dish over Directv in the first place?

LOL

If I still had DISH I would buy a ticket to wherever the hell Charlie hangs out to kick him in the balls.

I don’t feel dish is junk. They automatically tape every show on network TV which is nice cause we like a lot of the contest shows, still family viewing, like the Voice, and we know they are always ready for us to watch. And we can DVR things in different rooms and share with the other rooms. We have six in the family so this is great for us.

DISH has never broken down on us, their customer service is prompt, and we’ve used them for years. We would go to all Hulu, Apple TV, Netflix but for the sports fans. We like to watch college ball games not from our area. We like seeing all the hockey games, etc. Can’t find any other service to give us all of what we enjoy.

Also cut the cable maybe a year ago. Really don’t miss anything other than the Food Network.

TCM is the only one on that list to watch.

Programming suppliers like Turner/Time-Warner are demanding ever higher “carriage fees” forcing satellite/cabe providers to raise rates. These programming fee contract fights are becoming common...the channels you mention will probably return within a month, take a break from the Clintoon News Network! ;-) You would probably pay more for DirecTV (after the 24 mo. “promo” period..my nothing special, no HBO, etc, DirecTV package is $119.00/mo.

I changed to Dish over Direct TV years ago and found it much better. The only time they let me down is we couldn’t see the playoffs Giants and Cardinals

Well CNN is not a channel I miss at all. Dish now and again gets into a negotiation with a network and fails to get an agreement before expiration of the existing contract.

Usually takes a week or so before they get it straightened out and then the channel is back on.

If you have high speed interest then get a ROKU box at Walmart...you’ll never regret it.

They all make you sign a two year contract. Just remember if you try to opt out of it early there’s a stiff penalty. My mother found this out by mistake, has to pay about $240.00.

Nothing on TV. I now go with pure Internet. If I wanna watch some HGTV I just go on my XBMC and watch a few episodes free. Netflix and Hulu for 8 bucks a piece and my ATT Uverse for $41 a month vs $114 for basic HD DirecTV.

Doesn’t that put you in for potential lawsuits?

Well that would be grounds for termination.

Saw all the games on DirectTV.

And had the option of streaming on MLB.com via ROKU or similar.

Streaming is the future.
