I believe a decision from the grand jury is just around the corner. With this in mind...
Do you think that Officer Darren Wilson will face charges - or not?
Do you think the grand jury should give equal weight to both sides (eyewitness Officer Darren Wilson and the 5 other eyewitnesses)? Are civilan eyewitness accounts (be it one person or more) ever equal to that of a police officer? If so, in which cases?
If the 5 eyewitnesses don't agree on all things, should the grand jury take into account everything the 5 eyewitnesses do agree upon?
Does the witness of 5 outweigh the witness of 1, or is an Appeal to Numbers automatically fallacious? In that case, if more than 1 eyewitness acount cannot be relied on, how then can just 1 eyewitness account (Officer darren Wuilson) be relied upon?
That's a good point.I personally think that the MO grand jury will indict...at least partially out of fear. But if I'm wrong we all can be *damn* sure that Obola will see to it that he's indicted.
Call me naïve, but I think the GJ will go by the evidence and there will be no charges.
In order to prevent more rioting .....
no indictment...go home.
My prediction - the feds are given a heads up that it’s a no bill. The feds ask for and get timing of release on their schedule. At the same presser wher the DA announced the GJ no-billed the case, the DOJ announces it is charging Wilson.
The utter foolishness lies in the fact that NBC seems to be walking. They broadcast a record of his call to the police before the altercation. But they edited out an answer and then a question - which portrayed Zimmerman as a blatant racist, and is a technique which could be used to portray anyone as practically any thing. Zimmerman sued for a paltry $2million, and AFAIK that suit isnt even going forward. He should have sued the AP and its membership for the environment in which it was possible to do such a thing, and possible for people to call for vigilante action against Zimmerman without repercussions. And he should have sued NBC specifically for enough to make himself, his lawyer, and all of his friends and family independently wealthy.
It is not to be forgotten that Zimmerman is a Democrat.
With Obola, Holder, Jackson and Sharpton all sitting on their heads, I say they hand down an indictment.
Al $harpton is going back to Ferguson on Halloween to stir up the natives again, so that puts off the decision a while longer.
I can hear the tinkle of broken glass now.
Christmas comes early to Ferguson, MO.
Every single time I've followed a hot potato case, where the decision was a slam dunk, whoever was charged with rendering the decision did the opposite of what the law directs. Bush v. Gore and the SCOFLA; Zimmerman vs. Angela Corey; Obama and Honduras - those off the top of my head.
Just saying you can pretty reliably throw "going by the evidence" out the window. The decision is made without regard to the evidence and law, and the explanation is crafted (in an attempt to conform it to the evidence) later.
Using that approach, I still come out that the local politics doesn't support a local indictment. Especially not when the feds are camped out, willing to do the dirty work.
Zimmerman sued. His suit ws dismissed by the court.
We have no idea what the witnesses actual testimony was. We only know what they said when interviewed by press or what they posted on twitter. Making a statement under oath with penalties of perjury and having to answer direct questions about their testimony can have an affect on a person.
Well, there are big differences between Zimmerman and this case. When Angela Corey was appointed the fix was in against GZ. I don’t think a special prosecutor has ever been appointed and not come down with an indictment. No special prosecutor has been appointed here. The default for the system is to let LEOs off, unless the political class decides to throw them under the bus. I don’t see that happening here.
You and I are in agreement on the outcome. My point was that hot potato cases are not decided on the merits.
Red herring argument. The issue is not who killed Brown. Everyone agrees who killed Brown.
The issue is did the officer fear for his life or the lives of others. According to the leaked testimony, the officer was attacked in his car and his gun was discharged twice during the fight. This alone would indicate that Brown is dangerous and life threatening to the cop and others. The only one who knows for sure how the officer felt is the officer. However, the circumstances by which Brown was shot are consistent with displaying an aggression that most people would agree that the officer was in danger for his life. In addition, those witnesses you reference all agree on one thing..that Brown was approaching the officer when he was shot and the officer was backing up while shooting. That is not the original story that Brown was being executed while kneeling on ground. That is the description of a man who was aggressive just seconds ago being aggressive again.
The leak from the DOJ is they found no civil rights violations. They never said that about Zimmerman.
Obama will have the decision held until after the midterms.
The decision will be announced on the following Saturday morning after the Friday evening news dump that announces the amnesty executive order and Ebola martial law.
I think he will face baseless charges in MO.
They will be to afraid for their lives to no bill him so will pass the buck to a judge and jury.
