I believe a decision from the grand jury is just around the corner. With this in mind...
Do you think that Officer Darren Wilson will face charges - or not?
Do you think the grand jury should give equal weight to both sides (eyewitness Officer Darren Wilson and the 5 other eyewitnesses)? Are civilan eyewitness accounts (be it one person or more) ever equal to that of a police officer? If so, in which cases?
If the 5 eyewitnesses don't agree on all things, should the grand jury take into account everything the 5 eyewitnesses do agree upon?
Does the witness of 5 outweigh the witness of 1, or is an Appeal to Numbers automatically fallacious? In that case, if more than 1 eyewitness acount cannot be relied on, how then can just 1 eyewitness account (Officer darren Wuilson) be relied upon?
I hope not.
The evidence strongly suggests “NO BILL”.
But to keep the savages at bay, they might lynch him anyway!
so the GJ hasn’t released it’s findings and you want to know what I think of it’s findings?
They’ll indict...out of fear if for no other reason.
Doesn’t matter. Ferguson and, possibly, St. Louis will blow up anyway.
If evidence trumps eyewitnesses, Brown may not stand trial. I’m feeling optimistic.
"No bill." Is that the term?
As much as political correctness and pandering to minorities has ruined America, I’m gonna say ‘no charges’ on this one. Evidence shows Brown assaulted Wilson. Evidence shows Brown was NOT shot from behind and his hands weren’t up and that he was likely charging Officer Wilson who therefore acted in self-defense. Bear in mind Wilson was already assaulted once in his SUV prior to the second barrage of shots.
It’s funny. Quite a while ago I read the stats on elections in Ferguson.
IIRC, blacks were something like 5% registered to vote.
They gotta register to vote first. Presumably.
I’m guessing No Bill and they’re just dragging their feet in hopes of things settling down.
It would be awesome of the handed down a No Bill verdict the day after the election.
We need a better system, one that settles once-and-for-all whose testimony should be believed and whose shouldn’t be believed.
I honestly don’t know if the eyewitness testomony of any five anywhere should be considered more trustworthy than one (I am going by the principle of relying on the parts that multiple people agree upon and tossing out what they dont agree upon) or if one person’s testimony is better than 5 which agree on some parts, but not all parts.
The officer is innocent until proven guilty. Does the grand jury have any evidence to warrant a murder trial? I doubt it unless politics and local public opinion overly influences them.
No, I want people here to state their opinions on the matter.
I stated where I stand in post #51.
Since the “protesting” was merely used as an excuse to loot, it won’t matter. They’ll “protest” again either way. If he’s indicted, it’ll be out of “happiness, tolerance and social justice”!!
Yes, let the good people of Ferguson have an all black police force acceptable to the demonstrators. Have representatives of the demonstrators decide on the individual hires. That would be “interesting”.
Yeah, it appears that they accept that Brown forced himself into the cab of the police car where he was shot once.
I think there is some wiggle room as to whether he should have been shot as he was going back at the officer.
My personal opinion, though, is that Darren Wilson should go free. And I fear for his life thereafter.
I supported Zimmerman who turned out to have his own problems. But his attorney said that the lives of those who survive these trials and verdicts are tough. Hard to get a job or a place to live. Living in constant fear, never knowing who to trust.
Brown did assault Wilson, but didn’t an audio recording in the area have two distinct part of the shooting (6 shots followed by a pause and then just a bit later more successive shots that followed)?
What evidence has shown that Brown charged Wilson? From what I’ve seen, this is solely Wilson’s account.
And with that in kind, do we believe 4-5 eyewitnesses, or 1?
Do we go with the Appeal to Numbers, or with 1 officers account?
If more eyewitnesses isn’t necessarily better, and yet Officer Wilson is an eyewitness, whom then do we believe in any future case, be it a white person shot by a black cop or vice versa?
You don’t think a jury from St. Louis country wouldn’t turn in a false “guilty” verdict just to avert a riot or seek some sort of vengeance? It would be very dangerous for the prosecutor to bring trumped up charges on the belief or hope he would be acquitted due to the lack of evidence.
Regardless of what did or did not happen, Wilson’s life will never be the same. If the jury finds No Bill then that is the way it is, and Wilson shouldn’t have to live in fear thereafter.
