[Schizophrenia Treatment:] Risperdal and Invega Side Effects: Gynecomastia (Enlarged Breasts in Men)
Legal Examiner ^ | 10.16.14 | Craig Kelley, Attorney-at-Law

Posted on 10/18/2014 8:49:54 PM PDT by Morgana

The lawsuits surrounding Risperdal allege inappropriate marketing as well as failure to warn issues. While Johnson & Johnson alleges Risperdal helps countless people throughout the world who suffer from debilitating mental illnesses, it also has caused embarrassing side effects further contributing to the problems it claims to address. In September of 2012, Johnson & Johnson settled one such lawsuit with a 21 year old who had taken Risperdal and grown breasts which had to be surgically removed. The settlement was allegedly agreed to by Johnson & Johnson in order to avoid having the Judge in the trial order Chief Executive Officer Alex Gorsky to testify. According to court filings, Gorsky was using the increases in Risperdal sales on his resume’. The plaintiff sought to secure testimony regarding Gorsky’s role in getting psychiatrists to promote Risperdal for uses not approved by the FDA.

Soy is a phytoestrogen. I’m not sure about flax.

Flax is, actually more phytogenic than soy, which is why it should be sprouted before consuming to limit toxicity. It, also, turns rancid rather quickly and the omega 3 benefit is practically nill, because the ALA it contains only converts to EPA or DHA at a 10 percent clip.

Ever wonder why “eastern” men are so worried about their sexual prowess and have rhino horns, elephant tusks and tiger parts (whatever they use) made into “natural” sexual potency products

WHEN ALL THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO IS CUT OUT EATING SOY? Soy is like estrogen!

uneducated idiots and the Vietnamese are the worst.

First, side effects are not universal. Second, it sounds as though the drug was correctly prescribed for your son.

What is schizoaffective disorder?

Do you still counsel? I thought the 25% of PTSD sufferers was due to fetal growth and mother stress but interestingly I read that Britain’s soldiers suffer at only 5%. Could be their mum’s temperaments or definitions but I am going to do a world wide by nationality search.

The thought of your presentation is making my monitor go blurry because only now are they taking precautionary training measures. We have lost so many precious people to suicide that this late response is so horrendous. Also, since Extortion 17, the suicide rate among our Special Ops members has proven that (yes, Hillary) for them, including Benghazi, it made a big difference. I believe it is the straw.

If you still counsel, could you private message me and I will keep you on file?

“We have lost so many precious people to suicide”

The historic suicide rate in the military was much lower than the same age group in the general population. It was not until Obama changed the rules of engagement in 2008 that our soldiers felt helpless to protect themselves, their men and to accomplish their mission. I had men crying to me in frustration as the soldiers under them were committing suicide from the feeling of absolute helplessness when they were being court martialed for returning fire after being shot at by insurgents.

This change, along with the lack of direction and defined mission from the commander in chief destroyed morale and increased the suicide rate beyond the casualty rate.

Many of the drugs are ADDICTIVE, and have horrid side effects like suicide.

Some of them mimic the disease.

I’ve have to know what a drugs side effects are BEFORE I take it as I have a full typed sheet of drugs I’ve reacted to, some pretty badly. Hives is the least of the issues with some.

Had 1 IDIOT PCP prescribe for AB pain Cytotec...does any one realize that Cytotec is a first stage ABORTION DRUG? Thank God for my phone that I could look up the drug before I took it. Or I’d of been in worse AB pain than I was already in from the fall on the concrete that bruised my AB/Ribs wall. I am still in pain from it. This was nearly 3 yrs ago. It just keeps spreading.

Lucky you, I take 8 daily and 2 more when I have a Meniere’s flare. Then you have the vitamins and Probiotics I am told to take by either the Gastro or Endo.

I REFUSE their addictive NARCOTICS unless I’m in the hospital. And I have more than my share of trips there. That kind of info gets into your med records at the level I need it, and they start yanking gun permits.

BTW Lavender will also cause male hormones to shift and breast to develop.

Risperdal is a very effective drug. Gyynomastia is a rare side effect and stops as soon as the medication discontinues.

“Gyynomastia is a rare side effect and stops as soon as the medication discontinues.”

It may stop, but how is one “rid” of the side affect? Understand what I’m getting at?

Johnson & Johnson Settles 3rd Risperdal Lawsuit for $158M

If companies are people, my friend, like Mitt Romney famously described in Iowa in August 2011, then we’re feeling a little bad for our fellow person called Janssen Pharmaceuticals, a division of health care giant Johnson & Johnson.

They just got dinged with a $158 million settlement in a Medicaid fraud case in Texas for “making false or misleading statements about the safety, cost and effectiveness of the expensive anti-psychotic medication Risperdal, and improperly influencing officials and doctors to push the drug.”

But we won’t feel too badly, because Janssen got off easy with this one. They don’t have to admit to any liability with the settlement, and Johnson & Johnson — who made billions off of the sale of Risperdal — will barely blink their corporate eyeballs as they make out the check.

http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2012/01/25/johnson-johnson-settles-3rd-risperdal-lawsuit-for-158m/

This is the third state settlement for Johnson & Johnson in connection to their promotion and marketing of Risperdal, an atypical antipsychotic medication that was touted to be a drug better than sliced bread — and with far less side effects. (Too bad corporations don’t eat, my friend.) They’ve been ordered to pay $327 million in South Carolina, and $258 million in Louisiana in similar state lawsuits.

Johnson & Johnson Backtracks on $2.2B Federal Deal

In 2012, Johnson & Johnson agreed to pay up to $2.2 billion to settle a federal investigation into its sales practices. But, according to The Wall Street Journal, the drug giant is now threatening to back out of the deal if forced to admit that it downplayed risks associated with its prescription drug Risperdal.

The FDA maintained that Janssen promoted Risperdal as safe and effective in treatment of attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, oppositional defiance disorder and autism despite “known health risks to children and adolescents” taking such medications. Rapid weight gain and metabolic disturbance have been seen in many young patients taking drugs in the same class as Risperdal.

The government’s complaint alleges that Janssen paid speaker’s fees to physicians in a bid to influence them to write more prescriptions for Risperdal. It also alleges that Janssen paid millions of dollars in kickbacks to Omnicare Inc., the nation’s largest pharmacy service specializing in dispensing drugs to nursing homes. The payments to Omnicare consultant pharmacists were made under the guise of market-share rebate payments, data purchasing agreements, grants and educational funding, the government alleged.

You make this a thread with BILLION in the title and that will get a reaction. States should be added as keywords after posting (anyone can add a keyword).

Although I am what could be called a republican, the Lord Jesus had some mighty words for those in power and businesses get away with more crime than the poor. And don’t even get me started with the fed and the big banks. I’ve learned a ton from the liberal anti-federal reserve sites that hilariously stopped updating after an election that occurred, oh, about 6 years ago??

My client won these suits on behalf of the government.

Thus I am somewhat familiar with them.

A lady in our church is facing this, sadly, from a teacher in a Christian private school. Idiot teacher has “diagnosed” her son as ADHD and says he needs to be medicated. Her problem with the boy is that he finishes his work way ahead of the other kids, then doesn’t just sit in his seat and politely wait for everyone else to finish their work. She calls this “being intolerant of others.” Mind you, this is first grade, and the boy is 6 YO. I told mom I think it sounds like a really bright kid who is bored out of his mind and a teacher who doesn’t want to make the effort to challenge him. A group of the ladies in our Bible Study are trying to help her learn to be an advocate for her son, to stand up for him. To a person, we’re all saying do not let them medicate him.
