FULL TITLE: Ohio televangelist forced members to have vasectomies and abortions, told women to treat pregnancies as tumors and allowed children to be sexually abused
Televangelist Ernest Angley has been accused of running an Ohio church where men are forced to get vasectomies and women abortions, and where children were sexually abused.
Self-proclaimed prophet Angley has been described by some of 21 former members as a closeted-homosexual Jim Jones who's turned a blind eye to sexual abuse.
But the 93-year-old has defended the allegations, saying he is simply an instrument of God.
He told the Akron Beacon Journal: 'I'm not a homosexual. God wouldn't use a homosexual like he uses me. He calls me his prophet, and indeed I am,'
Angley it is said to have played an active role in encouraging male followers to undergo vasectomies, and also monitored the results.

Gamecock...don’t know if Earnest Angley qualifies as Megachurch but I remember his tv ads so he’s not small affair.
Maybe he could find work at Apple or Facebook.
Always knew this guy was a fruitcake.
There’s a difference between “encouraged” and “forced.”
Ernest Angley is one of the creepiest hucksters to ever come down the pike. And I said that before these allegations were ever aired.
I remember his tv commercials, I thought he was sleazy.
I recalled seeing his faith healer nonsense (’Boooooooooh!’ he would shriek as he laid a hand on a person’s head and they fainted from the ‘healing.’
He managed to build a small empire of sorts. I once took a school field trip and we stopped at a cafeteria that turned out to be part of Angley’s complex - huge portrait of him on the wall.
I saw him not too long ago....now he’s got a most ridiculous-looking toupee. 93 years old and still scamming!
So what’s the issue, violation of church and state? Sounds like government healthcare to me.
This guy is still alive?!
He HAD to be the role model Robin Williams used when spoofing evangelists.
Yeeaassss!
I have never heard of this guy.
But I know the press LOVES to promote any story of hypocrisy or open sin regarding church leadership.
So I wonder whether the allegations are true, or just a smear campaign designed to isolate and destroy a particular Christian ministry?
But I’m the guy who still thinks all those allegations by low-class tarts regarding Herman Cain were just David Axelrod sponsored agitprop designed to remove a legitimate threat to Obama’s reelection campaign?
It gets harder and harder to find the truth in these stories, but its a crying shame when Christianity gets this kind of press whether the minister is apostate or not.
Another self proclaimed “prophet” - another argument against Sola Scriptura.
Forced? Like with whips and chains and stuff?
“This guy is still alive?!”

"Hee-yull!"
Not many know who he is outside of the Akron area. Rex Humbard was his predecessor when the “church” was called The Cathedral of Tomorrow. We used to love to drive by and see the tower which was laughingly known as “the big dick in the sky”. lol
From the article:
“’He really forced people into abortions through scare tactics, as if he were a medical doctor. It turns my stomach.’”
But what really got me.....
“While Angley was said to encourage vasectomies and abortions to save his member’s offspring from the perils to today’s society, former member Greg Mulkey said in reality the pastor was motivated by selfishness.
He said: ‘He doesn’t want people to have kids because it would take their time and money away from (the church).”
Yea what I thought, it was all about money for him.
They just had separate dorms for the two genders, without resorting to medical procedures.
They're not around any more, except as museum villages, and furniture styles, and wood working tools.
