Woman fights to take back house stolen in deed-fraud scam
By Amber Jamieson
Its a case of grand theft house. A Manhattan woman claims an ex-con stole her family home in Queens by filing a phony deed with the city and moving in. Now Jennifer Merin is battling in court to remove the convicted armed robber, Darrell Beatty, 49, and his sons, Darrell Kash Beatty, 25, and DeShaun Beatty, 22, from the three-bedroom Tudor she says they snatched in February. It just devastates me, Merin, an online film critic, said as she looked at cherished family heirlooms photos, a circa-1920 bed frame, vintage suitcases, classic television sets, a smashed 6-foot vase piled like trash in the garage of the Laurelton home. Merin said her Russian and Ukrainian grandparents moved into the new row house on 141st Avenue in 1931 and raised her mother and her mothers two siblings there.

I think fondly of an event from my youth. My grandmother had a small rental which was vacant. My dad was checking on it late one night when he saw someone strike a match. He zoomed up the stairs and into the place. Seconds later someone came through the window, closed at the time, and landed on his head. The second was kicked down the stairs and my dad stuck a 45 in his ear and told him not to come back or he’d kill him. This is a true event seen through the eyes of a ten year old. It was about 1955 and all was right in the world: fewer laws and lawyers. I also knew not to F with my dad.
Before I pass judgement I want to know how she voted......
Yes, its come to that.
Face it. The government is on the side of the criminals.
A certain newspaper did the same thing years ago, they stole the empire state building.
This was supposedly fixed.
I guess not.
*snort*
This is a good time to have friends named Tony and Rocco.
Give them the address and step back.
Since this is New Yawk, it’s doubtful that she can simply use a gun to run them out. That being said, having eight or ten of her grandson’s friends show up and beat on their skulls might help convince them to find another house.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm
the Albany Seven did much the same to the Palatine Germans of Schoharie County in the mid 1700s...
that time they filed with Queen Ann or whomever the sovereign was..
why wasn’t she living in the house ???
was she in hospital ???
When the government fails to protect property rights, then the government has failed in its very reason for existence. It has become nothing more than a scam in itself; taking taxes and providing nothing to protect the people. The resolution leaves only a correction of this criminal violation by the city, revolution, or anarchy.
Now we are to decide what she should have done with her personal property? If she wants to keep it as a shrine, she can keep it as a shrine.
Your comment it fit for DU, not FR.
Well said, Flick.
this happened in CA a couple of years ago..
the mother had died and the next month one of the children went out there to sell the house..
He found some people had broken the window or lock and was living in it..
He tried evicting etc..no dice..
he turned the power and water off and they took him to court and a judge ordered him to turn all back on..he was paying the bills in his Mom’s name..
I don’t know how it turned out..
probably not good for the lady’s children..
Kind of what I was thinking, except they’d be named Sergei and Ivan. If she has any ties to the Russian community, she should be able to arrange for a visit from some very severe characters.
I don’t see that at all. He’s broken in and stolen all that valuable stuff. That’s not at a level suitable for you?????? strange.
That is unreal, and don’t tell me: If you forcibly evict them you can get sued. It’s things like that when you wish the Mafia got involved lol lol Seriously, kidnap them and bring them to an abandoned warehouse “You still want to live in my house?”
Face it. The government is on the side of the criminals.

In the article it’s plain the government was complicit in allowing a fraudulent document to be filed without being questioned. If I was the woman I’d burn the place down and sue the city for their role...
Don't forget chicago.
It's all about where the MONEY is.
FMCDH(BITS)
Just checked to see whether you were still living in Tennessee or mayhaps you had moved to the U.K.
Selah.
We found out, later, that Jo would have been guilty of a Domestic Violence beef if she had. There is no defense, and worse, thanks to that Ultimate Monster Lautenberg, (May he spend FOREVER screaming in Hell!), a DV conviction means you lose your rights as an American, forever.
She can do whatever she wants with it but will face the consequences of not watching it. It’s called personal responsibility. Abandon property without watching it and the theives will come in and steal it.
