Recent Mars Images (Marvin the Martian throws down the kaboom in a guest zot)

Posted on 10/08/2014 10:49:46 AM PDT by aardwolf46

All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:

That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.

A few items...

JPL uncensored video showing large-scale structure:

Raw JPL video:

Electrical device of some sort with helical coil wound around it
Device is on the left, about a third of the way down on the image

Gear of some sort.

Raw image showing gear:

Wheel - axle device

Raw NASA/JPL image:

Metallic container with handle

I am soo allergic to insect bites and stings that I shoot first and investigate later. In certain areas, I carry an Epi-Pen, just in case.

*shudder*

Media mail is super cheap, though it takes forever. Speaking of slow mail, how is Pat muddling through the Greek mythologies I sent him? Is he still learning Greek?

Pat is hyperfocused on math right now.

I sense a digital attack on the horizon.

He won’t start studying programming until he gets 3 months of 7th grade math. done. This will probably take about another week.

I’m trying very hard to stay up until after the early news, but my right leg is bothering me again.

Today was actually more productive than I thought it would be when I got up. I got the bookcase together and up, and rearranged a few things on the walls (had to move the mirror that was hanging behind the door) and swept the patio.

I even made some Larry The Cable Guy beer bread (I mean, what else can you do with only 12 oz of beer?) and froze it. It should be easier to cut and serve that way. But not for a while...

Not that kind. Math is a digital approximation of an analog world. Being too stepped in the approximation can cause issues.

That's why the resultant of 2 + 2 sometimes is 1.41421356237..

"A H E M !!"

When you rearrange the letters in my ahem, it spells MAYHEM.

Not that I would ever be responsible for anything like that.

I like to keep a low profile, like an earthworm, or a sandworm on Arrakis.

I have a low profile like a person lying on her bed with a cat on her stomach. If anything comes flying through, it will hit Jake first.

"... until he gets 3 months of 7th grade math. done. This will probably take about another week."

This is what I would call an "accelerated" learning schedule.
