Recent Mars Images (Marvin the Martian throws down the kaboom in a guest zot)

Posted on 10/08/2014 10:49:46 AM PDT by aardwolf46

All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:

That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.

A few items...

JPL uncensored video showing large-scale structure:

Raw JPL video:

Electrical device of some sort with helical coil wound around it
Device is on the left, about a third of the way down on the image

Gear of some sort.

Raw image showing gear:

Wheel - axle device

Raw NASA/JPL image:

Metallic container with handle

Ohman. I hate when the wine and pretzels run out just before the chicken is deemed to be charcoal. That really sucks in the cold weather.

I just caught the weather...all 50 states have below freezing somewhere, and I’m sure that includes Hawai’i!

Here? Pahrump had freezing temps last night, and of course, Mt. Charleston is living up to the name of “mountain.” Me? It’s actually 63 here, which is probably an anomaly in the thermometers. I’m still wearing a thermal shirt and my trusty fleece vest from Alaska (sadly, I think this is the last winter I can wear it, as the zippers are shot and the fleece is getting stiff) and have turned on all but one lamp in here, trying to warm the place up.

I really don’t do winters...not since I almost died from shock.

(And along with a new fleece vest, I need more thermal shirts...it never ends.)

I’m cooking some fish and spinach. Then I’ll get my pajamas on and see if I can get the byos to listen to a story.

You are so welcome. I just HAD to see it here. I couldn’t rest! Fortunately Tax Chick was accommodating.

*like*

Uh-huh.

.

All those people keep saying "like".

My response is always "as if".

I submitted the letter from the doctor that would waive the pet deposit, so I will wait for a response.

I think I will have a light supper, since I had fish for lunch. Smart Ones (Weight Watchers) has a frozen fish and chips dinner that isn’t too bad. It comes with a crisping tray, so the fries are crunchy. Not really “chips” as the Brits make, but still...

If you can find it at the library, check out, “Escape From Earth,” by various authors. It’s geared for young adults, but there is something in it for everyone. I’ve read it twice, now, and will read it again, for sure.

*Like* is what you do on Facebook, if you spend enough time there. It’s a habit, man...

That's precisely why I said exactly what I said.

The middle thing of what?

The middle thing of an Oreo cookie is stuff. Or maybe double stuff.

Ah. In that case, I should leave my hob-nailed boots on Earth. Should I ever try to walk on Middle Earth... I’m actually content to view it as the gods do...from a reasonable distance above the action...

Ah, "a reasonable distance above the action" is what I recommend for the next planet inward, which some might describe as the second rock from the Sun.

G’night, T-c! Pleasant dreams. I think the book will keep the byos interested because it is composed of short stories.

See you tomorrow day!
