Recent Mars Images (Marvin the Martian throws down the kaboom in a guest zot)

Posted on 10/08/2014 10:49:46 AM PDT by aardwolf46

All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:

That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.

A few items...

JPL uncensored video showing large-scale structure:

Electrical device of some sort with helical coil wound around it
Device is on the left, about a third of the way down on the image

Gear of some sort.

Wheel - axle device

Raw NASA/JPL image:

Metallic container with handle

Yep, a cable box is needed, because it will have the input and output jacks.

Thanks to both of you. My brain hasn’t worked right for a few weeks (relapse due to no pills) and I couldn’t see the solution in front of me. I will call to see about a wireless connection, since I already have wireless for my computer.

His reasoning was that if had gloves glued on his hands, I couldn’t cut his fingernails. He also wished he could hide his toes somewhere I’d never find them.

It’s been one of “those” weeks.

“Now young man, stop hiding your toes in other dimensions this instant! DOn’t you know they might be nibbled on by wraiths, dimensional gullets, nambo shufflers, or worse, mistaken for croutons?!”

That would resolve the toenail-clipping issue, right there.

It’s OK, TC, it will all come out in the wash. When it works, I will tell you...

Frank is SUCH a whiner! LOL! I believe your family is just a small society, like a little village, with all kinds of folks in it.

The stuff of fairy tales!!!

It’s been one of “those” weeks.

Weeks should not be squandered. You only get five thousand of them.

"That would resolve the toenail-clipping issue, right there."

It worked for Timmy. He never had to have his toenails trimmed again.

I think it's a cautionary tale, but I'm not sure.

"Beware of hungry Elder Beings?"

Generally, I would suspect that encountering them is not a positive experience.

Timmy's case turned out a bit different. Perhaps there's something to be said for incurable optimism as a preparation for a dire fate.

Frank is brilliant.

"Don't do anything stupid" would have greatly simplified my campout/activity speech.

I know the unwritten Thirteen Point of the Scout Law; all Scout leaders know the unwritten Thirteen Point of the Scout Law.

From now on I'll be sharing an unwritten Fourteenth Point thanks to Frank, even though it ruins the parallelism of the Scout Law.

"A Scout doesn't do anything stupid."

“Fire flame explosives or magnesium based explosions are NOT a shortcut to a good campfire.”

The problem with resolving to not do stupid things is that one’s resolution is circumvented by one’s inability to know at the time that a thing is stupid.

Speaking as an expert here, we do stupid things because we think we are doing something ordinary, but we are unaware that we are overlooking the information that will tell us that what we are doing is stupid.

Case in point; the recent attempted child-snatching in which the escaping perpetrator tried to elude pursuit by going into a house through a doggy-door.

Perhaps he failed to consider that the reason this residence had a doggy-door was because they had dogs.
