Recent Mars Images (Marvin the Martian throws down the kaboom in a guest zot)

Posted on 10/08/2014 10:49:46 AM PDT by aardwolf46

All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:

That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.

A few items...

JPL uncensored video showing large-scale structure:

Electrical device of some sort with helical coil wound around it
Device is on the left, about a third of the way down on the image

Gear of some sort.

Wheel - axle device

Raw NASA/JPL image:

Metallic container with handle

Tennesseeans aren’t used to polydactyly. They think of it as a birth defect.

You’re kidding, of course. Self explanatory. Hi, good to see you! By the time I get here, everyone’s usually gone.

Is there actually a market for them? The TN cats are very winsome but I thought it was an outcome of genetics coupled with early socialization.

I was a lawyer, so tell me first whether you want a yes or a no answer.

We don’t have any working bicycles right now. My uncle gives the kittens away. People up there like him.

It looks as though you are about to get a dunking of cold, wintry weather. Better get all the cats, kids, and pumpkins in that wouldn’t appreciate a frosting.

Berry took to his trade as if born to it.

I found his personality an odd mix. He was always friendly, but not very assertive. Hard to contrast him with others; there were always very few in his position.

Mrs. SM is home and I have tag-teamed out the Halloween duties for a while.

Temperatures are in the low 50s. My penultimate trick or treater was about 18 months old, very unsteady on his feet, and two-handedly helped by his mother. Normally, that's a 'how cute' moment.

But . . . the little boy dressed as Nacho Libre, from the Jack Black/Mexican wrestler movie. Or so mom proudly announced (she only said Nacho Libre; Google did the rest).

The tiny kid was barefooted, wearing tight short trunks over a diaper, a cape, and an eyeliner(?) mustache.

Low 50s and dropping. Barefooted. Bare chest and back. Bare arms. Bare legs. Soccer mom's right there. Somebody bought that cape/silky shorts costume (I trust at half price or less, because if it's true you get what you pay for, then you should only pay for what you get).

I hope to find the wormhole back to Earth this weekend.

That almost made me cry. I hate people. It’s probably a good thing I don’t get out much.
