Our family just started looking for a home to purchase.
Just curious.... How long did it take you to find the perfect house?
Our lender took two years.
We are finding something wrong with all of them.
For our current house
From start “We need to move”
To finish “Back in the truck”
It was @ 5 months.
Mostly searched with my internet searching on Realtor access sites, zillow, google satellite/street view and GIS maps for terrain type and property markers.
Creating a short list, drivebys and then calling the agent for viewing.
Our agent took us to some houses on her own that she thought would work for us when we first started looking, they didn’t, so I took point on viewings after that.
Only problem with our property is the government, a couple of years ago, decided to designate almost half of the land as “Priority Habitat” - no building or altering unless with environmental inspection, approvals and permits...Drat
no such thing...there are trade offs with every house.
My ex wife designed and built my current home on my acreage. I don’t like the house but it sits on the property I cleared and worked to improve.
Best wishes
I built it!!
No such thing as the “perfect house”...you have to make adjustments in life...I would rather strive for a perfect family
haha we are in the same boat. Been in our house 17 years and still working on it. We are never done. Windows is my next project.
Thanks.
I’m pretty happy with mine already
Thank all very much for your replies
Additional comments still welcome-just wanted to thank all posters
There is no such thing. Even if you build it, you will always be in the “I wish I did that...” mode.
I understand about not want to bother Yahshua when there are such great things of import going on in the world and in other Believer’s lives but 2 things keep in mind:
1. He knows the number of hairs you have on your head
(seems like you must be pretty important to Him:)
2. You have not because you ask not.
Buying a home is one of those BIG life issues...you want to be in the home He wants you in. neighborhood, neighbors, schools, etc are places of destiny so seek Him on this one...I truly believe He has the exact home He wants you in...it may not be perfect but the reason will be shown to you at a later time.
We wanted to do windows year ago - but WOW - they are expensive. I can handle lots of stuff like the deck, putting in floors, adding a wall, etc. - but the windows was too much I thought.
Of course after watching the guys put them in - I bet I could have figured it out. Although we bought our windows from a small local outfit, so not sure if they even would just sell them without installing them.
And - if I did it myself it would have taken a LOT longer, no doubt a missing window overnight at some point when I made a mistake, etc.
Hubby is unable to do anything anymore and there are quite a few projects that I just will not do. Besides we also have a boat that I am constantly working on. It is in the boatyard right now but when it comes out I have 4 new port lights to put in and am putting in new flooring. Around the house we hire everything done. We’re just lucky we can afford it.
I loved reading your story and I always told you that you are an exceptional ‘writer’
