Got a google malware report when I opened a FR thread on 'U.S. Submarines: Run Silent, Run Deep...On Diesel Engines?'
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3205441/posts
Never seen a warning like this before. Was using Chrome browser. Malewarebytes and Avast did not warn me of this. False positive maybe?
Malware on FR or Google playing nasty with us or what?
Went to thread in Pale Moon just now and no warning.
Letting you know
Google search on ussjallao returns this
USS Jallao SS368
www.ussjallao.com/
This site may harm your computer.
It is with regret that we announce the passing of Captain Ray Coe Commander of the USS Jallao. He. passed away on March 10th 2014. Our condolences go ...
My Kaspersky AV isn’t raising a peep about it, and it’s among the best AV/anti-malware apps there is. (written by Russians)
I’d trust KAV over Google any day.
The malware warning is not about Free Republic. It is for ussjallao.com which was linked on that thread.
I got the same warning.
I took a screenshot of Google warning regarding FR thread but don’t know how to post image I saved.
Ok thanks, just thought I should warn people in case.
I’ve been having lots of trouble with TWC today. I have the bundle. Comp running slow, not finding servers, phone going dead repeatedly. I have a sleep disorder, and if the tv stops working tonight, I’m going on the warpath!
The FR Moderators deleted the questionable link. Should be clean now.
Have pulled the post containing the img link to USS Jallao SS368. But who knows why google has the site blackballed?
Thanks I reopened thread again just now and no warning now.
Upload your photo, pick the size and you will get a link you can post.
Don't know what's going on.
I trust google as much as I trust malware. Think Google doesn’t like us much. Probably don’t like US navy either.
That’s it! :)
Ahh good idea thanks.
Apparently the problem is either on the USS Jallao site or Google is falsely reporting malware.
I switched back to Chrome yesterday because of weird stuff happening in Pale Moon. Unknown item opening on task bar that I could not close unless I closed Pale Moon. MWB and Avast reported no malware.
Dont’ use chrome.
“Your browser will contact Google’s servers periodically to download the most recent ‘Safe Browsing’ list, containing known phishing and malware sites.”
https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/privacy/
They have used this to impede access to information they dislike.
Yea going back to Chrome is a temporary measure (see post 18) I haven’t found answer for unknown item opening on task bar when using Pale Moon so it is out for now. Firefox is to bloated and slow. I have Opera installed but never liked the look and feel of Opera. Will be doing some research and testing on browsers tonight or tomorrow.
