Buying a gun in WA, especially a handgun requires two background checks. One federal the other state. When I bought my pistol I had to fill out those two forms. What’s really nefarious about this initiative and its parallel one is gun transfer to the extent if you let a family member just hold your gun it’s considered a transfer and paperwork has to be filled out - it’d be against the law to hand your gun to anyone else for whatever reason. Say you’re gone and there’s a break in. If you grab a gun that’s not yours it’s a transfer and you’re in big trouble. Have to defeat both of these stupid Liberal initiatives.

Heck, I would initiate the “Touch a Gun Day” program and overload the system with millions of background checks to the point that it collapses their network entirely.

“if you let a family member just hold your gun it’s considered a transfer and paperwork has to be filled out - “

No restriction on transfer to spouse. You may temporarily transfer to child under the age of 18 while they are under your supervision.

“Say you’re gone and there’s a break in. If you grab a gun that’s not yours it’s a transfer and you’re in big trouble. “

Temporary transfer is allowed for such a case.
