From the 1940s until recent times, if a soldier carried a nine-millimeter pistol into battle as part of his weaponry there was a good chance it was a Browning Hi-Power.
The Hi-Power was a part of nearly every world conflict of the 20th century. On both sides.
Saddam Hussein carried oneand liked to fire it into the air to rile up his supporters. Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi owned a customized, gold-plated Hi-Power with an image of his face etched in the grips.

one never knows what their reaction is going to be...facing the possibility of taking a life while protecting another is highly stressful...in a society like ours - we are taught to value life (becoming less common I know) - and when faced with a determined enemy - one has to go against those natural feelings...but lots of training and drills do help...

I remember reading, many years ago, that George Jackson favored the BHP. He was later killed in a prison break. The pistol he had was, at the time, described as a Browning Hi-power but all I find today is it was an Astra 9MM.

Would be a perfect design if not for the magazine disconnect safety.

The mag safety is easily removed.
