Tomorrow evening begins the first of Ken Burns' 14 hour documentary on PBS, The Roosevelts: An Intimate History. The good news about this documentary is that we can be sure it will be free of any political advocacy since Burns has no bias and.....
Huh? Am I kidding? Of course I am. The fact is despite Burns' laughable denials, he is a bitterly partisan Democrat to the extent that he gave a speech in 1998 in which he declared himself to be a "Yellow Dog Democrat." The speech was also chock full of scathing attacks upon Republicans which makes his later denial that he is only a Democrat because he inherited that political party from his family even more hilarious. ...and Shelby Foote, I just fell in love with that cutie.
The United States Supreme Court decided that the official beginning of the war began in Lincoln's office when he declared a blockade of Southern ports.
Secession occurred because of the failure of the Constitution to protect the states.
Lincoln invaded to retake Southern raw materials used in overseas trade.
Later, he and the press invoked the slavery rationalization due to the carnage problem.
Go on.
Ft. Sumter was already under siege. A siege is an act of war. An attempt to resupply it, with orders to fire if interfered with is not an “invasion”. The confederates wanted a war, and they got one. You can string individual facts into a scenario where the south was an aggrieved victim, the Union was the aggressor, and slavery had nothing to do with the war, but it’s bogus.

I got all goose-pimply.
Rubbish. Your statement is contradictory. Either you are well read on the subject or you let a liberal teach you history by video. Why a conservative would endorse the liberal worldview is beyond me.
I’m not supposed to hate anyone, but I hate Dems/Libs!
It seems that your education is at risk by further discussion.
You should be more careful of your urges to post.
I figure I have the intellect to differentiate between fact and bullshit. Learning of a historic event doesn’t necessarily indicate that you adhere to the politics of the author/presenter. As to being well read on the subject, I am and I owe the miniseries for that interest.
