Richard Kiel'Jaws' From James Bond Dies At 74

Forget Jaws from James Bond.

More importantly he was the Cookbook space alien guy on the Twilight Zone.

RIP.

I just looked it up and was surprised to see him listed as born in Detroit. I am sure I have read that he was born in Jesup. I guess it is possible that I am thinking of another large actor.

I remember him most from the “To Serve Man” episode of Twilight Zone.

My favorite. My boy had an extra ticket, so took me along to a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas, where we met Mr. Kiel. He had a table with autographed pictures, so we popped for one each as per below:

Told him I enjoyed his performances and he replied that he always tried to do his best. He struck me as a class act - no ego problems and just a regular, nice guy.

He asked us if we'd like to have a picture taken with him, and while neither my boy or I are into hero worship, we jumped at the chance. Cool.

May he rest in peace.
Second the motion.

He was in the best of the Moore Bonds, ‘The Spy Who a Loved Me’, and in one of the worst Bonds of all time, ‘Moonraker’.

I have fond memories of him in ‘Cannonball Run’; he was in a Mitsubishi with Jackie Chan.

Thanks for that link. I remembered him playing the "Mr. Eddie" character in So Fine from the early 80s. Cheesy movie but they played up his enormity in a good way.

LOL I had forgotten about that.

The early scene in Pale Rider where Eastwood whips ass with the hickory ax handle was great. After he beat on those guys he tossed the ax handle onto that guys crotch. Great scene.

Harold Sakata died 2 years before that film was made (1982). This actor playing “Oddjob” is the late Tsuneharu “Thunder” Sugiyama.
