Emma Sulkowicz is turning her assault into art -- and a protest against Columbia University's sexual assault policy
On the first day of her sophomore year of college, Emma Sulkowicz was raped in her dorm room bed. The Columbia University senior says the perpetrator was a fellow student. He still is — and has been since he allegedly assaulted Sulkowicz and two other female students. As Sulkowicz reported in Time earlier this year, all three cases against her offender were dismissed. So, she’s not taking it anymore.
After joining a federal complaint in April over Columbia’s mishandling of rape cases and speaking out about the school’s failure to address her assault, Sulkowicz is now embarking on yet another effort — an artistic one — to make change on campus. For her senior thesis project, the visual arts major will perform what she is calling “an endurance art piece,” in which she will carry around a standard twin-size dorm room mattress with her everywhere she goes, until her rapist is removed from school.

Probably no one in his right mind ever went near her before this either.

That’s the problem! I constantly read that “reported” rapes are only a small fraction of “actual” rapes. Having a very attractive daughter myself, I have coached her since she was a little girl to NOT dress in super skimpy ALL the time and even when she can’t resist wearing “skimpy” she should make sure she is going to be in a safe environment.................there are supreme risks to “skimpy” on real attractive girls.
Some guys just “CAN’T control themselves and “castration” is an after the fact “solution”. Simply put, I’m talking “prevention” (as a father) your talking “punishment and revenge” AFTER the rape. I guarantee you that in some situations guy’s get so horny and out of control they would not stop a rape in progress if you were standing there with a bloody knife in your hand!
Notwithstanding any of the foregoing though, I completely agree with your “after the fact” TREATMENT for those that can’t control themselves and rape some father’s daughter. Indeed, I would hold em down for you!
I saw a news report that she agreed to sex and he started to strangle her and she said stop.My question is did she ever report this to the police and go to the hospital.?
That’s one of the problems with her story. She didn’t report it until months later, and I don’t believe that there is any physical evidence.
This is why it’s so important for anyone who has been raped to contact the police and have evidence collected.
Well, I kind of assume that any Freeper, or anyone worth communicating with, is going to inculcate in their kids that not being a victim beats the hell out of playing the victim. But darned if I’m going to give the Muzzies any credit, as sometimes tempting as it is, to structure a society on the assumption that men are incapable of controlling themselves and that therefore the woman is to blame when something goes wrong. Obviously it’s a continuum with slutty attire and behaviors at one end and burqas at the other, and any smart women are going to avoid trouble (kind of what makes ‘em smart), but we as a society should have violent zero tolerance for any sort of taking any kind of advantage of women.

I would just state that you “seem” to suggest that ALL MEN can control themselves in ALL situations. They can’t! And, that is what I had in my mind when my “super hot” daughter walked out the door! Namely, those few “nuts” or “psychos” out there on the street that could not control themselves.
More than once, just like in the movies, dad (me)said “Whoah there”!...............then “un unh, ain’t no way, change it!”
Since by then she had a car, that I was paying for, she new better than even grunt (cause with Dad, “no” meant “no” everytime) and back she went to her room and changed!
Then, a couple of times, just to throw her off balance, I would check her purse (large bag) for skimpy stuff and I would also check her car (actually my car). She would see me through the window checking the car and later asked “what were you doing?” I said, “looking for Skimpy”.
She also lost the car one week end for a clothes infraction that rose up out of a photo someone else took and sent me.
Today she is a CPA and getting married to a wonderful guy in October in Hawaii. So, “we” made it through that teen age cloud!
When I think of some of the idiots, dogs and general jackwagons I grew up with, if the male young ‘uns are even half as bad I think I can start seeing where burquas are not an entirely stupid idea (a black belt and a Glock are even better).... just kidding, of course :-)
No substitute for “Raising them up right”. My real point is just that any guy who would take advantage of even a passed out, provocatively dressed woman, even an ex GF or otherwise ‘known’ to him female, is someone possessing genes that should be eliminated from the pool. Now. Preferably in a way that sets a graphic example.

Over here, it’s the opposite, most men I know can’t wait for the next half dressed chick to walk by. And, the muzzies, hypocrites all, get over here and head straight for the boob bar before going to their hotel!!!
Then, that was not enough control so the men got together again at a Control the Women Convention and decided that women had to marry who they said to marry, can’t go outside, can’t drive a donkey cart or now days a car, if they get raped it’s their fault and so on and so on.
Again, it’s all about POWER and CONTROL.............of WOMEN!................by horny lttle frustrated men! (I could say a lot of other things about them in different ways but it(such a post) would get pulled)
