Yep now we just need the definition of "tugging". I expect it isn't what you or I might consider tugging.
Anyone seen Michael Vick lately?
I never take my dog to PetsMart unless he is staying at the Pet Hotel or being groomed. I’ve seen too many dumbasses at PetsMart with Pits and other bully breeds they can scarcely control; not to mention obnoxious little yappers. There is no reason for my dog (Pembroke Welsh Corgi) to accompany me when I am shopping. I know “pets are welcome” there, but I see no point in it.
“a man stabbed the pit bull, Clara, after it slipped out of its collar and began tugging on the ear of his dog, a Westie Terrier.”
Translation. The pit bull was going to kill his Westie, as pitbulls are wont to do.
Pit bulls are monsters and I can’t say I totally blame the guy for defending his dog.
He dissed someone’s baby-momma
It isn’t just an image issue. Breeding has a lot to do with it. The dog fight breeders have ruined the dog.
Why, no.
Assuming consistency, they will demand we ban knives.
Good kill.
I would’ve done the same.
Pitbull against my Cocker Spaniel= Not gonna end well.
Never let it be said that you are encumbered by the facts. Even the miniscule number of them in this mostly worthless "article".
I gather that you know little (first hand) about dogs in general, and even less about pit bull mixes.
Many of the dog owners at these functions are morons and know nothing about how dogs interact, or how to deal with them.
As an aside, this being Atlanta, it would be interesting to know what the "demographic makeup" of the dog owners present was. That is not a "racist" remark, there is a point in asking.
They’ve been UNHINGED, UNGLUED, UNSOLDERED, ETC. for a very long time.
As evidence I present obozo and over 400 of the 535 members of the so-called “congress”.
I rest my case!
Pit bulls are the favorite breed for black drug dealers!
I'm looking for clues to a bigger picture. I see this as just one example among many and those factors are all used somehow as steps to take this example to a destination.
But what is at work selling US the travel brochure and maps? Who's driving and how do I get off of whatever this is?
If you look closely, what is happening to the pit bull is very similar to what is happening to guns. Both were, not all that long ago, a common/accepted part of American life.
Now both are things inspiring fear and "should be banned!"
Different, yet the same play. Curious.
Just an observation but, contrary to what the MSM would have us believe, firearms do not go off on their own volition. OTOH, Pit Bulls ...
There!
Excuse me, but "pet" dogs that kill or severely maim people minding their own business -- from old ladies pruning their roses to guys working on their cars to mail carriers walking between two cars to gents having an evening smoke on the back porch -- have NEVER been a common/accepted part of American life.
Comparing an inanimate tool for self-defense or hunting such as a gun to a dog of a known-deadly breed whose owner regards as "my precious baby who is just misunderstood" is nuts. Hello?
Great post by a reader at the source:
‘This never happened when Bush was President! Just sayin’”
My jealous, potentially aggressive male springer went off ("sprung"?) on my new neighbors' dog in what has to be the worst first impression of my life.
I thought I understood dogs and most of the warning signs, but I never saw this coming. I should have, but didn't.
My new neighbor and I had just met and were talking at the side of the street by their mailbox. My boy was calm, lying down at my feet, and *BOOM!* had their dog by the cheek and would NOT let go. I've never seen or experienced anything like it first hand with any dog ever.
My ultra people friendly boy has always been willing to take on ANY male dog that got too close to me or my female, but I thought his being a bit older and now testicle-free would settle him down and it has. He's been much better and, for a moment, I was starting to think his aggressive days were over, then he launched on that dog.
Fortunately, the new neighbors' dog is okay, no permanent damage, and they are understanding dog people. I don't remember being that mad at anything in at least 3 decades as I was at my devoted and loving dog as we walked home, nor as embarrassed then or now still, even weeks later.
I've been re-watching Cesar's programs and now see the many little ways I was subtly encouraging what nature put in him and every other dog, such that he thought he was doing the right thing attacking like that.
My shame and embarrassment are off the chart and I'm grateful it wasn't worse, that my dogs wasn't put down and for the opportunity to rectify my mistakes.
When I was in HS, everyone left their guns in their pickups or the backseat or trunk of their cars in the parking lot, so they could go pheasant hunting after school. Yet, here we are. So, what is common to these uncommon (as you see them) things? Peel a couple of layers away and see what you think.
As to the rest? Yes, my sanity is always questionable. Thanks for the update.
Fwiw, I've never aspired to anything beyond "nearly normal" and one day yet I shall get there.
(Been a few setbacks along the way)
LOL.
For those who didn’t read:
Again, a pit bull gets loose and starts attacking. Yes, a pit bull attacked!
