FULL TITLE: No other team wants to pick up openly gay NFL draft pick Michael Sam after he's cut from the St. Louis Rams
Michael Sam was not picked up by any other team Sunday after the NFL's first openly gay draft pick was cut by the St. Louis Rams.
Sam's dreams of becoming the first gay NFL player have now been placed on hold.
Sam is now free to sign with any NFL practice team.

Let’s see if I have this right.
The Rams let him go because they are homophobes (they gave him a chance just to be politically correct, to show that they aren’t homophobes, even though they are).
No other team will pick him up because they are homophobes.
Therefore, professional football is ran by homophobes.
A 7th round pick is a 7th round pick. Making it to the NFL is an uphill battle no matter what he does in the bedroom. This should be a non-story.
Sam will have try to latch on with a practice squad, like everyone else.
Well, the good news is that Michael’s free to do Okra’s “Michael Sam is a Homosexual (NFL Football Player) Show” the NFL wouldn’t let him do.
The bad news is that Okra doesn’t want the show now that Michael Sam is a washed up NFL draftee who’ll never take a snap in a regular season NFL game. Poor ol’ Michael is just another homo now with no special claim to fame.

I just don’t understand why I haven’t seen any reports about the vast majority of them getting cut. This guy has to be the most famous 249th pick in the history of the NFL draft.

There is no room on the roster for a backup defensive player who cannot play on special teams.
He’ll probably end up staying on Rams practice squad. As you said, it’s not that usual for straight players and the closeted homosexuals who were released over the last couple of days.
He could make tons of money doing gay porn.
Not surprised. Sam was always considered a marginal NFL prospect. A good college player, but most scouts felt he lacked the mobility and strength to play LB or DE at the NFL level. He just ain’t Lawrence Taylor or Howie Long.
It is possible, though, that he’ll get a invite now that he’s cleared waivers. IIRC (and feel free to correct me if I’m wrong here, folks), once a player clears waivers, teams no longer have to offer the player the same money as his initial contract.
