Sources have told The News that Rivers would not want to live unless she could enjoy “a full and active life....(She) would never want to be a burden on anyone.”
Rivers’ grandson, Cooper, 13, and her daughter’s ex-husband, John Endicott, were spotted leaving the hospital Saturday morning in a Lincoln SUV and returning to Melissa Rivers’ East Side apartment.
Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital after she stopped breathing during an otherwise routine doctor’s visit for a throat procedure.
It was unclear how long Rivers was without oxygen. Doctors placed her in a coma within hours as they attempted to assess the damage, and her daughter was expected to discuss treatment options with the medical staff.

When your under sedation and having any kind of endoscope put in, sometimes water can get into the lungs(Happened to my Mom a few weeks ago when she had her endoscopy done) difference is, my Mom refuses to be sedated, for anything, she fears the sedation more than the procedure..so when the water went in, it was just a tiny amount, she coughed right away..when your sleeping you can’t cough. I can’t understand how come she didnt have this done in a hospital setting, she flew from LA to New York to go to this particular place, she must have history with them

Probably vocal nodes. With all that screaming she did from the throat not the diaphragm. This procedure wrecked Julie Andrew’s gorgeous voice so perhaps it’s more dangerous than we think.
I don’t know, do they do that just to look at vocal chords? I just find this very odd that this happens right after she did that rant against Hamas.

Joan Rivers has always had an odd, raspy voice.
It certainly is suspicious.
If there was intentional malpractice, they’ll never allow Ms. Rivers the chance to tell about it.
Prayers that she fully recovers or that God take her home.
But Rivers? For Gods sake, most of the Civil War generation is dead now. How she hung on this long, I will never know.
The inability to draw simple distinctions makes some people rigid and narrow minded. It is a pretty common condition.
I would say the doctors have a very good idea. She most likely was being monitored by a CRNA during the procedure. It's the media that doesn't know, and as usual they place their own importance above all else.
Breitbart death was creepy as hell. And, yes, I’m suspicious. But Joan? Come on!
Just for the record, my close relative was a joke writer for Joan in the early 70s. I met her several times on the Tonight Show set in NYC. Nice lady - all pre-crazy plastic surgery.
Both of my parents, in their mid eighties, have told me to “pull the plug” if they’re brain dead. Knowing that, I will not hesitate to do it if the decision is ever asked of me.
I am their only child and they’re divorced so it is my decision.
Hopefully Joan has given some direction to Melissa so the decision has already been talked about and easier to make.

Those voices often have vocal node trouble - if that’s what it was. Performers like Joan live with either chiropractors or Ear, Nose and Throat doctors.
I agree. I don't think there's anything nefarious going on here - and she is 81 years old.
Pray for Joan, a gutsy, funny lady. An American treasure.
Maybe they're a bit more slack in New York.
I think a lot of older people hang on for a long time after people expect them to, for unfinished business, or they want to say goodbye one last time to someone. Your story was touching and not the least bit offensive. Thanks for sharing.

My parents nearing 80, they have both requested the same as yours.
I try to spend as much time as I can with them, you never know..
As for the oxygen thing, I’m sure they know..not to be harsh but if machines are keeping her alive, not looking good. She most likely will never wake up. If they start the morphine drip, it won’t be long.
