As you may remember, I developed a soft spot in my heart for her when we were on Wife Swap together, Palin writes. Please pray for her healing and for her family during this awful time. :(

My aunt, 83, is a repeat cosmetic surgery customer, too. I’d feel just as bad for Joan Rivers and the family if that had a tragic outcome.
I ran into a church acquaintance at Walmart one day with some of her friends from New York. They sounded like a convention of Joan Rivers impersonators!
I was going to ask if Wife Swap had anything to do with wife swapping. I think Joe Piscapo did it as well.
Sarah is great, smart, capable, willing and unafraid to take on the ‘big wigs’, She has my vote, if and when she runs for President of the United States.
America needs her voice, Sarah is much maligned by the liberals, socialists, etc.
God bless Sarah Palin.
Seriously, I think many Freepers think it is "cool" to pretend to know nothing about pop culture. Such as when Whitney Houston died, people would come here and say "Whitney who?".
OK, we get it, you are "cooler-than-thou" and have never had your pure ears polluted by a Whitney Houston dance number. But surely you would know that Whitney Houston was a troubled "pop" singer with drug problems, a scumbag husband and a couple dozen Top 10 singles to her credit. So please don't come here pretending that you have zero exposure to pop culture, don't have a television in your home and spend all your free time reading religious tracts in your monastery.
So yes, I believe that most Freepers would know that "Wife Swap" is a stupid reality show on TV in which wives switch households and that participants sign an agreement that they are not to have sex with each other. Which kind of makes it more realistic, come to think of it.
I don’t believe in conspiracy theories. I will say that stars generally check into hospitals under pseudonyms and never want it to be known it’s for cosmetic purposes - although in Joan’s case the cat is obviously out of the bag, lol. I remember when Streisand had her face done, she walked around LA wearing a beekeeper’s veil!
As a friend of mine once replied when I asked if a certain star had plastic surgery: “Either that, or a childhood fire.”
I have always like Joan Rivers comedy and the other day I was trying to remember what her original face looked like. I could not.
I cannot tell if you are agreeing with me or not?
There are comments on this thread that clearly indicate that the writing feels that “Wife Swap” was some sort of “dirty” show.
It is a stupid show—you and I agree on that.
I REALLY think there are Freepers who have no lives outside of their church life. I usually do not find them very interesting to talk to, as they are usually complaining about people who have more fun than them. Or who got the best seat in church on Sunday.
In that regard, she’s a female Newt Gingrich.
It’s funny, old-time actresses I used to see (whose careers dated to the 1920s-40s) invariably aged into fairly nice-looking, normal, little old ladies. You don’t see that anymore. Thanks to plastic-surgery, the modern senior-class of veteran actresses all seem to look like strange mutants... stretched faces, deeply-dyed hair, and wearing clothes styles designed for girls in their 20s.
As a lifelong conservative, I get annoyed when conservatives are stereotyped as solemn, stern, out-of-touch people who watch Jerry Falwell on TV, play Anita Bryant records and try to ban short skirts and sockhops at the high school. So people here claiming ignorance of pop culture feed into that. I'm being a tad facetious but just trying to make my point.
We need more politicians like Sarah Palin.
somehow I actually saw that show and it was terrific....it wasn’t Sarah it was her older daughter. Joan Rivers was crying at end thanking Palin’s daughter for what she had done for her family and grandson...
And she has been found to have been right on things she was mocked for back then.
As a commentator, analyst and supporter of conservatives, I like Palin a lot.
As a politician, well, she might run for president, but it’ll be in the same way that Donald Trump runs for for office...basically a way to promote whatever book or TV show she’s involved in.
Palin is my first choice as well. Her history of being so steadfastedly unbeholden to outside interests/pressure, from the media to Party machinery to corporate lobbying to everything in-between, all while being a devoted Constitutional conservative, still puts her in my top spot. She has that kind of no-nonsense grit, in that sense, that reminds me of earlier American generations. It’s become almost insanely rare nowadays, in this culture of everyone bowing down to each and every media attack or PC dictate.
But I have a hard time seeing Palin succeeding in this environment. The American populace has become so degenerate, so degraded, so cowed. It recoils from people with strong values, strong opinions, and strong spines. I have zero faith in the American people nowadays. And certainly no faith in the GOP, which would immediately go all-out to undermine and destroy any candidate like Palin or even a Cruz.
I am not entirely convinced Palin will run in 2016, but I am convinced she originally did intend to run in 2012.
Something changed her mind at the last moment.
Now we are nearly halfway through Obama’s second term. This is it. We are still ramping up for the 2014 election, so nothing will happen until after the election at the very least (though that is now just two months away).
Palin is involved politically. She is running with the candidate in Arizona next week. The same candidate who was also endorsed by Ted Cruz, and a bunch of other noteworthy Tea Party people.
I think Palin is very much involved right now.
She may or may not run. I remain convinced she may.
Until which time she says “no” to 2016 however, I am 100% on Palin’s side, are ready to work for her.
At the moment, just keeping the topic open. Thanks for your feedback.
We shall see.

Tonight Show clip from 1986, with a picture of her in 1965 with Johnny Carson. In fact she is wearing the same outifit and wig, which was funny in itself.
Her face was very angular. I remember her when she started on the Ed Sullivan Show in the 60s.
With that NY accent, she was unique.
I remeber this joke: “When I was born, I was so ugly, the doctor slapped my mother!”
Exactly.
Thanks that was nice.
