Silliness, just a few days after a tragic accident. What else would they expect?
Almost certainly yes, but putting a machine pistol in the hands of a little girl is Darwinian.
Depends on maturity of the child. Kids can handle guns, others can not.

They never run these polls when a kid protects themself or their family with a gun.
I wonder why.
A 9 year old gets a BB gun or single shot .22, not a UZI.
Poll to FReep.
Received my first .22 rifle when I was 7, started shooting competitively when I was 9. My firearms have still killed fewer people than Ted Kennedy’s car. Even after 28 years as a Weapons Specialist in the military.
Gunner
CNN poll. That says it all. Truth is not the objective of anything CNN does.
Mine all learned from early age.
CNN trying to take advantage of the tragedy of the 9 year old.
Freak accidents will happen and yes he should have been more careful, such as holding the gun to start with to see if she could have handled it.
Daddy started us off on a .22 bolt action. He probably would have used a pellet gun but they were not available in our area.
I started my Daughter off with a low powered air rifle, then a medium power air pistol then a .22 single shot.
One day maybe 40 years ago, I took a bunch of my Nieces and Nephew down to the creek on my parents land. Some had never fired a gun but we all had good safe fun.
My Niece wanted to fire the .44 Magnum. I told her I didn’t think that was a good idea but she insisted so I let her. She was around 5’7” and runner up in a state beauty pageant. She was also surprisingly strong.
I told her how to aim, squeeze the trigger and to hold the gun tightly but not like you are trying to strangle a weasel. Don’t be afraid of the recoil and allow it to roll in your hands.
With eye and hearing protection, she fired all six shots and wanted to shoot more but I had to let others have a go too.
The vast amount of our shooting was with a .22 bolt action and pellet rifles.
"Be allowed?" What the heck does that mean?

I had a single shot, bolt action .22 Remington at the age of 9 years old. I lived in the country and had to work to buy bullets for it and if I violated ANY safety measures my 6’ 4” dad would literally kick my butt. So, I just didn’t!!
Back then a 50 shot box of ammo (shorts was all my dad would let me have) was about 75 cents. But. it took me about a half day of hard work on the farm as I recall to earn 75 cents from my father. I got to be such a good shot with it (young eyes and reflexes), I could hit a running lizard in a wide turn around gravel driveway we had for turning trailers.
At 12, my uncle gave me a .32-20 Winchester owned by his and my dad’s dad with the proviso that I keep it and give it to my son. I still have it and it is still loaded and sitting right here. I have had it for 54 years or longer than grandpa had it. He used it to arrest escaped prisoners in East Texas.
No....children shouldn’t learn to shoot guns....
children shouldn’t be brought up in a single religion....
children shouldn’t be taught America is any better than any other country...
Children “should” be raised in a utopian bubble, insulated from reality, and then be let out into the world to deal with life unfettered from cultural bias, imposed by flawed adults.....
You can teach kids all kinds of sexual perversion but by golly don’t teach them how to use a tool.
No, I think German Shepard dogs would make fine instructors.
Stupid question.
