A theological question about the afterlife

Posted on 08/26/2014 1:00:53 PM PDT by MNDude

I'm wondering if anyone here is Muslim, or is greatly knowledgeable about the Muslim religion. My one question is...What is the story of the 72 virgins waiting for Muslim martyrs?

Were they humans that lived on earth and died or were they created just for the Muslim martyrs? Do they have any life outside being virgins waiting for martyrs? What awaits female Muslim martyrs in the afterlife? 72 male martyrs?

Once a virgin has slept with a martyr, do they go on to a productive afterlife, or do they cease to exist?

Also, why virgins? I guess no one wants to be with someone that's slept with every guy on the block, but certified virgins seems kind of weird too--especially if the intent is to treat them all like a piece of meat and then move on to the next virgin.

If you were a sultan or someone like Hugh Hefner, won't you be moving down going to 72 virgins?

Also, why 72? Isn't that a rather small number for eternity? I mean, one a year and the martyr is through in 72 years, then a thousand years later he'll be looking on enviously at the guy that went with one only every 200 hundred years.

Please answer these questions if you are Islam or know a lot about Islam.

Darrell Issa would be “Darrell Joshua”, just as the patriarch Joshua’s name is not transliterated “Jesus” as if from Greek Ιησούς.

Those thirty Saudis would be quite angry if Jesus’ nature as the Son of God were mentioned to them. They only like their Gnostic version of Jesus.

Deut 28:1-15
“... I have set before you this day life and death, blessing and cursing; now you choose. ...”

Everybody gets to choose life or death.

Your after-life choice .. MUST BE MADE IN THIS LIFE. This choice will not be available to you after death.

You underestimate them. They were secure in their own faith and never needed to bash others' faiths.

Remember we had priests, vicars and reverends in the KSA ministering to the Christian expatriates. The Saudi government allowed them to come under the name of "special teachers" because the foreign Christians would have it no other way. Holy men from other faiths were OFFICIALLY not allowed in the KSA, so the Saudi government called them "special teachers. It was NO big deal for the Saudis.

My Saudi boss allowed me to go to Sunday morning Mass and make up the time at lunch. Sunday was a work day. My Catholic co-worker from India is the one who VEHEMENTLY objected to my taking off the 20 minutes to go across the street to Mass. No church, just a VERY large room for our "church." The KSA hired THOUSANDS of Catholic Filippinos and they consitututed the bulk of Catholics in the KSA.

And, since my boss thought "God is number one. There is always time for God. CloudMountain (not my real name of course) can go to pray whenever she wants" I started going to DAILY MASS, a habit I still have TODAY.

THANK YOU, Mohammad Hussein, for encouraging me to "go to pray."
God TRULY works in mysterious ways.

Ain't THAT the truth?
It's all choice, isn't it? Our good Lord gave us an eternal soul and free will.

Sure they don’t. They only ascribe to a faith that bashes other faiths, letting the Koran and Hadiths speak for them.

You are absolutely correct.

Our Heavenly Father did not want to create a bunch of robots .. He wanted people (His family) to chose to be with Him forever.

72 is a mystical number for them

I’ll share what I have learned.

It is important to understand what the number 72 means to most Muslims. It does not represent an absolute number. It refers too many, to many to count in a sense. It would be similar to someone saying there was more of something than you could count.

It does not mean literal virgins although to some it may represent actual virgins. I think virgins refer to pleasures. In essence, the offer to the terrorist is a reward of more pleasures than he could dream of.

Your quotations are mostly from hadiths, not the Koran.

Thanks for that. I didn't recognize the difference.

It’s all quite confusing. The hadiths are stories told about Mohammed by his followers and then later, sometimes centuries later, written down.

Hence there is a wide range of credibility they have among Muslim scholars. Some are given very nearly as much authority as the Koran itself. Others are viewed as just storied that are not authorative at all.

Deut 28:1-15

That all is about following the law, not Salvation through Christ.

From what I’ve read, they aren’t actually humans. No mind, no will, no history. They are not real women who once lived on earth. Just sex slaves.

Which is how women are viewed in Islam.

Ann Barnhardt tells of a town in Afghanistan where the Americans set up a clinic. Women started coming in, complaining about infertility. Subsequent research revealed that their husbands were unaware that anal intercourse would not result in children—and that was all the intercourse they were having. It was the only intercourse they knew about. Muslim boys are raped constantly before puberty, and are taught to despise and hate women.

The whole thing (Islam) is absolutely demonic. It makes war on every aspect of human nature and every kind of human relationship.

Did anyone ever ask why these women are virgins? Could it be because no man ever wanted to be near them. Bow Wow

Don’t die a virgin. There is a terrorist up there waiting for you.

If that is so, then why did the Saudi government allow priests, vicars and reverends into Saudi Arabia to minister to us Christians?

If they were such Christian-bashers, as you intimate, then those Christian men of the cloth would never have been allowed to ENTER the Kingdom, LIVE in a house on camp and offer Mass EVERY DAY (Catholics) and weekly service for the Protestants and Anglicans.
You are obviously misinformed about the Saudi Arabian reaction to Christian ministers and Catholic priests.

Not surprising. There is usually NOTHING positive about anything Muslim or Saudi anywhere in our media.
If if weren't for my Muslim boss I would NEVER have even thought of going to daily Mass. He encouraged me saying that I could go to pray anytime I wanted. So, I did.
And to this day I still attend Mass DAILY. Thank you, Mohammad Hussein!

Why are there Christians and Jews in the Islamic Republic of Iran? You’ve been around Muslims so long and never heard of dhimmitude?
