PING~A~LING Y’ALL

Had to say goodbye to one of our greatest generation, yesterday.
He was the father of my oldest BIL (that’s him in the family photo with gun). The little girl hugging her daddy’s leg is my best friend.

It was a beautiful day for his funeral.

Alas, we’re losing them all, and are now on our own in dealing with vast domestic and international problems.

R.I.P. hero.

My father who passed in 1993 was also Army Air Corps during WWII and later a charter member of the North Dakota Air National Guard-The Happy Hooligans. During the war he sent half of his pay home to his father who farmed in Iowa.

Condolences to all of you.

They really WERE the greatest generation. Dad was Army Air Force, too. America was very lucky to have had so many selfless and patriotic men.

Hiya Beachie! Thanks for the ping about the passing of another member of the “Greatest Generation”. Their legacy continues despite the years. Sorry for your family’s loss.

What a wonderful post. I didn’t get an impression of sadness but instead of appeciation of just how good and decent Mr. Nelson was. Veteran, Husband, Father.

My own dad was an Army Air Corps vet, who was getting “combed out” of his ground unit to be reassigned to a rifle company when they dropped the bombs on Japan.

These were the guys who were my teachers, Little League coaches, neighbors and dads of my friends. They are missed, as is the the world they made.
